As a die-hard Dexter fan who has been eagerly awaiting this moment since the original series ended, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming prequel, “Dexter: Original Sin“. Having grown up with Dexter Morgan as a part of my TV family, the prospect of delving into his past and witnessing his transformation from a college student to a full-fledged serial killer is an opportunity I can’t resist.
Viewers can eagerly anticipate uncovering the backstory of the vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan in the prequel series titled “Dexter: Original Sin“. Mark your calendars, as it is scheduled for its official streaming premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024. To watch this highly anticipated show, one must have a subscription to both Paramount+ and Showtime. Interestingly, the series will also make its U.S. television debut two days later, on Sunday, Dec. 15. So, be sure not to miss these special dates!
The upcoming series titled “Dexter: New Blood” is a crime drama production, jointly made by SHOWTIME Studios and Counterpart Studios. The original creator of “Dexter: Original Sin”, Clyde Phillips, takes on the role as showrunner and executive producer for this new installment. Alongside him, other executive producers include Scott Reynolds from “Jessica Jones”, Michael C. Hall known for his roles in “Dexter” and “Six Feet Under”, Mary Leah Sutton from “Resident Evil”, Tony Hernandez of “Emily in Paris”, and Lilly Burns from “Russian Doll”.

The initial 10-episode season unfolds in 1991 Miami, focusing on Dexter Morgan, a young individual transitioning from college life to a career as a serial killer. His targets are murderers who have eluded justice, but he must avoid detection by the Miami Metro Police Department while working as an intern there. This won’t be a simple endeavor.
In the new series “Dexter: New Blood,” Patrick Gibson steps into the shoes of a young Dexter Morgan, while original Dexter actor Michael C. Hall voices the character’s inner thoughts. Additionally, Christian Slater is cast as Dexter’s adoptive father and mentor, Harry Morgan. The ensemble also includes Patrick Dempsey, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson.
