As a gamer who’s seen more movies than I’ve completed levels, I can tell you that “Back to Black” is a cinematic journey that’s been buzzing around the gaming world for quite some time now. Having grown up listening to Amy Winehouse’s music, it was intriguing to witness her life story unfold on screen, especially with Marisa Abela bringing the iconic singer-songwriter to life so beautifully.

Under the guidance of director Sam Taylor-Johnson, the contentious Amy Winehouse biographical film portrays Industry‘s Marisa Abela as the legendary British singer-songwriter, who encounters and falls in love with Blake Fielder-Civil, as depicted in the movie.

I’m thrilled to share that Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” has made its way onto Netflix! Originally released digitally in the UK back in May, it is now accessible for streaming in the UK and Ireland as of September 12th. This means I can enjoy this iconic album anytime, anywhere, on my preferred device. What a fantastic treat for fans like me!

If you don’t have a Netflix subscription, you can either rent “Back to Black” for £4.99 or purchase it for £5.99 directly through Amazon Prime Video in the UK.

In the United States, the movie “Back to Black” can be streamed on Peacock by all its subscribers. Alternatively, you can rent or purchase this film from Amazon Prime Video, as well as other online retailers for digital download.

Prior to its theater debut in April, the film titled “Back to Black” faced criticism for allegedly profiting off of Amy Winehouse’s legacy, and leaked set photos sparked negative reactions due to concerns about the movie’s sensationalization of her personal struggles.

Jack O’Connell, the actor portraying Blake, justified the film as an homage honoring Amy Winehouse’s life and her music.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “If someone was creating an image of her with a negative spin, well, I could see why someone might think that, and I get why a few folks might anticipate that possibility.

To Digital Spy, Abela mentioned that she indeed comprehended the criticism, as she was experiencing it herself to some extent.

She mused, “It seemed as though, ‘I’m not alone in feeling this way?’ Nobody else considered this as deeply as I did that it had to be correct. To put it simply, if someone thought, ‘This must be excellent’, it was indeed my conviction.

You can currently stream “Back to Black” on Netflix in both the United Kingdom and Ireland. Alternatively, you can purchase or rent it via Amazon Prime Video.
