Take the Black: George R.R. Martin vs House of the Dragon, Part 2

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the ongoing drama between George R.R. Martin and the creators of House of the Dragon has been quite the rollercoaster ride. I’ve seen my fair share of developer-creator disagreements, but this one feels different – it’s like watching a Game of Thrones episode unfold in real life!

Previously, renowned author George R.R. Martin expressed strong criticism towards “House of the Dragon,” the series derived from his book “Fire & Blood.” It took us by surprise that such a prominent writer would engage in a public dispute over an adaptation of his work, but we can’t deny it’s anything less than engaging.

In this week, the conflict persisted as Martin made comments, either intentionally or unintentionally critical, about “House of the Dragon”. Executives expressed feeling frustrated yet unsurprised by these remarks. Can anything be done to resolve this? Is there a possibility that Martin’s approach will influence “House of the Dragon” to adhere more closely to his book? Or is he simply damaging every connection he encounters? Join us as we delve deeper into this topic in our latest episode of Take the Black. Catch it here!

This week, authors are making headlines, notably fantasy writer Neil Gaiman and his recent sexual misconduct allegations. The fallout from these accusations could potentially impact various TV shows and movies derived from his work, such as Amazon’s Good Omens series. Meanwhile, J.K. Rowling, another author surrounded by controversy, is back in the spotlight now that HBO begins production on their Harry Potter TV show.

The Take the Black Podcast is accessible on iTunes and YouTube Music. If possible, subscribe and download from these platforms.
