TFT Revival Dawn of Heroes mode gives nod to classic Thresh gameplay

As a seasoned TFT gamer with countless hours under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia as I hear about the return of Reckoning: Dawn of Heroes, now revamped as TFT Revival: Dawn of Heroes. The thought of revisiting those old mechanics that once felt so fresh and new, yet have now become integral to the game’s charm, is an exciting prospect indeed.

Instead of moving all the way to the most distant unit, then gently drawing it closer, he actually attaches himself to that unit and inflicts additional damage during his next attack.

Teamfight Tactics (TFT) is reintroducing the limited-time game mode “Reckoning: Dawn of Heroes” from 2021, now called “TFT Revival: Dawn of Heroes.” This new version includes updated gameplay mechanics and a fresh progression system, modeled after the mid-set update for the original Reckoning: Dawn of Heroes.

TFT Revival Dawn of Heroes release date

In simpler terms, the game mode for TFT Revival Dawn of Heroes will be available starting September 25 and lasts until November 4. During this period, players can participate in the Convergence within TFT update version 14.19. Afterward, this limited-time game mode ends with TFT update version 14.21.

Christina Jiang, the senior product manager at TFT, is thrilled that with ‘Revival Dawn of Heroes’, players will journey to a memorable point in our game where these mechanics were initially fresh and novel, but have since evolved into a significant and enjoyable aspect of what makes TFT unique and entertaining today.

What to expect in TFT Revival Dawn of Heroes

• A progression system that lets you unlock new ranks and free rewards
• A new ceremony featuring Pengu granting blessings to power up units
• Traits and champion augments featuring The Monstrous Chopper and Death Approaches

Riot Games explains that TFT Revival Dawn of Heroes’ advancement system allows players to gain new rank levels and acquire free rewards based on their skill and gameplay in the Revival game mode. Furthermore, a new ceremony featuring Pengu offers blessings to amplify units’ power. The Monstrous Chopper, specifically, bestows extra cleave damage on the Abomination trait and awards players with Kalista and Nunu characters.

TFT Thresh insights

Regarding approaching death scenarios, Thresh can attach himself to the furthest enemy for additional damage infliction. Jiang expressed her greatest enthusiasm about this enhancement feature on the Thresh champion.

Jiang referred to this as ‘Death Approaches’, a new take on the character Thresh from the Dawn of Heroes set. Instead of hooking enemies and then reeling them in towards you, this version hooks himself to an enemy unit and inflicts additional damage on his next attack. Essentially, it’s a more traditional League of Legends Thresh-like playstyle, which Jiang believes will provide a fun experience for players.
