Xtreme Gaming is the last remaining Chinese team at TI13

As a long-time Dota 2 fanatic with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the elimination of Spirit from The International 2024 playoffs was quite a shocker! Team Spirit had shown exceptional form during the group stage and were poised to make a run for their third TI championship. However, they fell short against Xtreme Gaming in the lower bracket. It’s always bittersweet when a favorite team gets knocked out, but it keeps the game exciting!

Day 3 of The International 2024 playoffs has concluded. Prominent Dota 2 teams Spirit and G2xiG have been eliminated. XG moves on.

On the third day of The International 2024 (TI13), an unexpected outcome unfolded as Team Spirit was knocked out, joining three other teams in elimination.

In thrilling best-of-three series, Beastcoast, G2 x iG, HEROIC, and Team Spirit were eliminated. These four teams have now advanced to the final phase of TI13, where they’ll battle it out for the Aegis of Champions in Copenhagen from September 13-15.

Team Spirit’s shocking exit at TI13 to finish 9th-12th

Today took an unforeseen turn for Team Spirit’s campaign. Initially, they convincingly defeated both G2 x iG with a score of 2-0, ensuring them a top 12 placement. Regrettably, they suffered a 1-2 loss against Xtreme Gaming and were unfortunately knocked out of The International (TI).

Team Spirit aspired to win their third The International (TI) championship and demonstrated impressive play during the group stage, clinching first place with a perfect 6-0 record. However, in the seeding decider, they suffered a 0-2 loss against Nouns, a North American team they had selected, thus starting their playoffs journey from the lower bracket. In the second round, they encountered another group winner, Xtreme Gaming. Both teams had triumphed in Tier 1 tournaments this year, but their matchup took place early in the lower bracket of TI13.

Finally, Team Spirit finishes TI13 in 9th-12th place.

Xtreme Gaming becomes the last Chinese team in Royal Arena

On the initial day of playoffs, Team Liquid defeated Xtreme Gaming, sending them into the lower competition tier. All three Chinese teams found themselves in this lower bracket. With both Team Zero and G2 x iG being eliminated, Xtreme Gaming remained as the last standing Chinese team.

Following a grueling win against Team Spirit today, I’m thrilled to be part of Xtreme Gaming, who have now secured their spot among the top eight teams at The International 2024. As the sole Chinese squad to make it this far, we’ll be setting foot at Royal Arena for the LAN event. In our upcoming battle, we’re set to face off against Aurora, with the formidable 23savage on their roster. Here’s to a challenging and exciting encounter ahead!
