Cheryl Hines breaks silence on Chelsea Handler’s claims she and husband RFK Jr. sold her ‘toxic’ home

Cheryl Hines has publicly responded to Chelsea Handler’s accusations that she and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sold Handler a house with dangerous levels of toxins.

The actress, age 60, recently addressed claims made earlier this month by Handler. She and the current U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services have been married for over ten years.

The former talk show host purchased a Los Angeles mansion in 2021 for $5.85 million. However, she explained on her podcast, Dear Chelsea, that she hasn’t been able to move in for five years due to several issues, including a faulty foundation.

In a preview of her upcoming interview on the Tomi Lahren podcast, obtained by People, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star expressed doubts about when Chelsea Handler decided to make her accusations.

Hines mentioned that Handler purchased the house five years ago and is only now voicing her complaints, which isn’t generating much public sympathy.

She said she’s purchasing a $6 million home and dismissed reports that it’s ‘toxic’ as illogical.

Hines also pointed out that she feels misled and believes we tried to sell her a house she described as “toxic,” which he found illogical.

The celebrity shared that when Handler bought the house, she immediately contacted the comedian and offered any assistance she could provide.

The actress explained that she did write a short, personal note to the new resident, simply expressing how much her family loved the home.

Hines said he wasn’t sure, but if they were trying to trick her into taking a problematic property, he wouldn’t have given her his phone number.

The actress from Bad Moms also suggested that Chelsea Handler’s claims, made years later, were attempts to gain attention and potentially mock her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Kennedy serves as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, appointed under the Trump administration, and is involved with the ‘Make America Healthy Again’ initiative.

Hines shared that it seems like she’s just looking for attention and trying to be funny, hoping to get some likes. You can see the full episode on Thursday, March 26th at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Handler bought the house in October 2021 for $5.85 million. She later stated she wasn’t aware that Hines and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had been the previous owners.

The building manager said promised repairs weren’t completed, and she only found this out during the final week of inspections.

The TV star claimed that building inspectors who checked her home told her it was dangerously toxic and uninhabitable for at least two years.

The author expressed frustration, stating they now need to get rid of unwanted items from their property and questioned how these items weren’t discovered during the initial inspection.

Handler also recalled that Hines had ‘the audacity’ to leave her a note after purchasing the house. 

She also made a comment geared towards Hines’ husband during the podcast episode. 

It’s concerning that someone with such a shaky personal foundation is responsible for the nation’s health.

Chelsea Handler recently shared an update about the mansion situation during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

She explained to the talk show host that she was unaware Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was the seller because the purchase was made through a trust. However, she feels like she ultimately bought the house from him.

The comedian added that it took her ‘four years to move in.’ 

She said the house had many issues that weren’t discovered during the inspection, and she holds him responsible for them, leading to a lot of trouble.

Handler shared that she recently moved into her new home – just a day before appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
