Patti LuPone bashes Kim Kardashian and Madonna’s acting ‘There’s just some things people can’t do’
As a seasoned theater enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the acting world has its fair share of talents and… less talented individuals. Patti LuPone, a true triple threat, is not one to mince words when it comes to those who lack the necessary skills to grace our stages.
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share my thoughts on Patti LuPone’s recent comments. She’s known for speaking her mind, and this time she didn’t hold back when it came to the acting abilities of Kim Kardashian and Madonna. She’s a master of her craft, so when she offers critiques, it’s worth listening!
75-year-old triple Tony Award recipient took part in a Hot Ones Versus interview with Aubrey Plaza, airing for the first time on Tuesday.
Instead of Sean Evans, the host of Hot Ones traditionally asking questions, the participants were instead presented with a set of questions to respond to, or faced the option of consuming a spicy hot wing instead.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the time when the fabulous NeNe Leakes, at 40 years young, boldly spoke her mind on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live. In an unforgettable moment, she branded the iconic Madonna as a ‘terrible actress’ and a ‘film disaster.’ Quite a statement from our beloved NeNe!
In simpler terms, Lupone was given a choice between saying sorry to the pop icon on camera or eating a spicy wing, and Lupone opted for the wing, also throwing a jab at Kardashian in the process.
I told you so,” Plaza remarked, with a hint of satisfaction, as LuPone glanced toward the camera and the wing, then tossed it in their direction.
When Plaza inquired about LuPone’s experience of tasting the wing, she merely shrugged in response. Plaza playfully suggested that LuPone is “devoid of life,” to which she responded by taking a sip of her beer.
LuPone commented on Madonna saying, “I’ve witnessed her both on stage and in films. And when I did, my response was something like, ‘Ah, I get it now.’
She remarked, “Certain tasks are beyond some individuals’ abilities, and it’s better to acknowledge one’s limitations rather than attempting something that might not succeed, to put it simply.” Afterward, she made a pointed comment about the Kardashians.
‘Everybody can’t do everything… like Kim f***ing Kardashian, OK? Can we go there? Or shall I eat a wing?’ LuPone said with a laugh, as Plaza repeated, ‘I love you.’
In April 2023, shortly following the announcement that Kardashian would be appearing in a new season of FX’s American Horror Story, LuPone made another appearance on Watch What Happens Live. This time, she was joined by John Leguizamo.
In another version, they participated in a game titled “Do You Take Interest?” hosted by Andy Cohen, during which they were questioned about their opinions on diverse contemporary issues.
When inquired about her feelings towards Kardashian being chosen for American Horror Story, LuPone responded with evident frustration, “Indeed, it matters to me.
Cohen remarked, “You seem not to enjoy it, though?” LuPone firmly stated, “Indeed, I don’t,” as she felt her role was encroaching upon an opportunity for a well-trained professional actor.
LuPone gently asked, “Kim, could you tell me about your current pursuits? Please refrain from entering the spotlight, Mrs. Worthington,” she added.
The Mrs. Worthington reference was from a 1935 Noel Coward song about a mother trying to get her daughter into acting.
