PS5 Pro: Release date, price, and more

As a seasoned gamer with memories of playing Pong on my grandfather’s black-and-white TV, I must say the upcoming PS5 Pro has me genuinely excited! After all these years, Sony continues to push the boundaries of gaming technology, and the PS5 Pro is no exception.

PlayStation will launch its new console in the end of the 2024.

On September 10th, both PlayStation and Sony officially announced that their upcoming console, dubbed as PS5 Pro, is set to be released towards the end of 2024.

The upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro marks a new addition to the PlayStation family, being the first since the launch of the original PS5 in November 2020 and the PS5 Slim in November 2023. Although it’s not quite the arrival of the PS6, Sony has confirmed that this upcoming console will surpass the capabilities of the current PS5.

Here’s all the essential info on the anticipated PS5 Pro model, covering its launch date, market cost, and key reasons why it surpasses existing PS5 versions.

When does the PlayStation 5 Pro release?

The console will launch worldwide on November 10, according to PlayStation.

According to PlayStation’s recent announcement, the initial cost of the PS5 Pro model will set you back by $699.99. Currently, you can find a similar version called the PS5 Slim, priced approximately at $600.

What are the differences between the PlayStation 5 Pro and the other versions?

In simpler terms, the key advantage of the PS5 Pro, as shared by PlayStation’s lead architect Mark Cerny, is that it will significantly speed up graphic processing by approximately 45%. Furthermore, PlayStation designed the PS5 Pro to deliver graphics with higher quality and smoother performance at a frame rate of 60 frames per second. This enhancement is based on feedback from the gaming community.

This is what is new in the upcoming PlayStation console:

  • Upgraded GPU: We are upgrading to a GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay, making the experience much smoother.
  • Advanced Ray Tracing: We’ve added even more powerful ray tracing that provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console.
  • AI-Driven Upscaling: We’re also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.
