Arnold Schwarzenegger helps train love child Joseph Baena for his first bodybuilding competition

As someone who’s seen a lot of transformations, I’m fascinated by this! Arnold Schwarzenegger is personally coaching his son, Joseph Baena, as he prepares for his very first bodybuilding competition. It’s incredible to see that dedication and mentorship passed down, and I’m excited to see how Joseph does!

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 78-year-old bodybuilder and seven-time Mr. Olympia winner, gave his 28-year-old son advice on weightlifting—telling him to really push his muscles—while they worked out together at Gold’s Gym in Venice, California, on Tuesday.

According to TMZ Sports, Joseph Baena is scheduled to compete in his first bodybuilding competition this Saturday at the NPC Natural Colorado State show, taking place at the Pinnacle Performing Arts Center in Denver, Colorado.

All athletes competing in this event will be required to pass both a drug test and a 30-minute lie detector test to confirm they are not using performance-enhancing drugs.

On March 18th, the athlete, who is half Guatemalan and has almost a million followers on social media, shared that he gained 18 pounds of muscle in just eight weeks.

In a 2023 interview with ET, Baena described him as an incredible father, someone to admire, and the most intelligent person he knows.

I’m incredibly thankful to have such a supportive and wonderful father. He’s always encouraged me in everything I’ve done, and I really appreciate everything he’s done for me.

In 2022, while a Christie’s real estate agent was on Dancing with the Stars, Arnold Schwarzenegger was amazed by their dancing skills. He told ET, ‘I can’t believe you can move like that!’ explaining that dancing isn’t a family trait, particularly on his father’s side.

Of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s five children, Joseph Baena has most closely followed in his father’s footsteps, even though he was raised primarily by his mother, Mildred ‘Patty’ Baena, in Bakersfield, California.

In 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger publicly admitted to fathering a child – now a Pepperdine University graduate – during a brief relationship with his former housekeeper. This revelation occurred when the child was 13 years old and ultimately contributed to the end of Schwarzenegger’s 25-year marriage to Maria Shriver, with their divorce becoming final in 2021.

In her recent poetry book, I Am Maria, President John F. Kennedy’s 70-year-old niece revealed the deep pain caused by her divorce. She wrote that it shattered her emotionally, leaving her feeling completely broken. She described it as the collapse of a lifetime of avoiding difficult truths, following the loss of her marriage, parents, and career.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and the creator of the FUBAR series initially connected through their shared interest in fitness. Schwarzenegger gave him a copy of ‘The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding,’ a book Schwarzenegger himself helped write in 1985.

In a 2022 interview with Men’s Health, the actor from ‘Dog Patrol: Operation Santa Paws’ explained that his father instilled in him a strong work ethic – the belief that you earn success through effort, not by receiving help. He shares that same belief himself.

I really value honor, and I’m proud to earn things myself. That’s why I hesitate to rely on my dad’s connections or ask him for help – I question what real achievement would come from it.

On May 3, Baena and his girlfriend, Dutch model Mel Randel, will celebrate their third anniversary.

Earlier this month, Deadline announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger will return to play Conan the Barbarian in a new film being developed by 20th Century Studios. Christopher McQuarrie is set to direct the movie.

Before that, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was born in Austria and became an American citizen, will play Santa Claus in a new Christmas comedy called The Man with the Bag, which will be released by Amazon MGM Studios.

The movie will star Alan Ritchson, Awkwafina, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Adrian Martinez, Jane Krakowski, and Ken Jeong, adding some great talent to the holiday fun.
