Tony Armstrong doesn't look like this anymore! ABC star shocks fans as he returns to the air with a very different look

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but admire Tony Armstrong‘s incredible journey, from his days as a Sydney Swans star to his meteoric rise in the world of television. His new look on ABC News is a testament to his fearless spirit and willingness to embrace change. While his curls will always hold a special place in my heart, I must admit that his buzzcut has a certain rugged charm to it.

As Tony Armstrong, I felt quite transformed when I revealed my fresh new appearance on ABC News this past Tuesday.

The well-known Australian sports broadcaster, aged 34, is recognized by his luscious curls and distinctive mustache, but he recently decided to sport a significantly altered appearance.

Instead of sporting his famous long locks, he opted for a close-cropped buzz cut, showcasing his striking transformation during his usual segment on ABC.

Despite switching his haircut, the ex-AFL star chose to maintain his distinctive mustache and beard instead.

The Sydney Swans star appeared on ABC’s breakfast show to discuss the sports headlines, a regular role he has held since 2020.

Last month, he was up for the esteemed Gold Logie award due to his remarkable television career, but ultimately, TV stalwart Larry Emdur took home the prize instead.

Additionally, he was a strong contender for the title of the most beloved presenter, but in the end, it was The Morning Show’s Larry who swept the Bert Newton Award with an overwhelming victory.

Michael Rowland, Tony’s fellow host on ABC News Breakfast, jokingly stated earlier that Tony might have become unbearable if he had won the award.

As a die-hard admirer, I must confess that if Tony takes home the Gold Logie, I might just become unbearably frustrated – though I’m trying to keep it light with a bit of humor before the grand event!

His head may become unusually large, and he might be easily persuaded to flaunt his dazzling prize.

He’s ready to handle it daily, as he truly believes that individual deserves the top television award. And let me be clear, he’s not joking about that.

Back in the spotlight, I, a die-hard fan, am thrilled to share some intriguing details about Tony’s latest chapter. He’s spilled the beans on his blossoming romance with Rona Glynn-McDonald, dishing out the story of how their paths first crossed.

Last year, the pair openly declared their romantic relationship, and since then, they’ve been thriving more and more.

In July, they shared stories about their initial encounter, with Rona confessing that she wasn’t aware of Tony’s prominent status in sports when they first met.

In an interview for Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast, artist Rona playfully commented that Tony appeared to have been pursuing her, but later explained that they had both been part of the same social circles.

Regarding Tony, he pursued me quite relentlessly, and this is usually my response when asked about it. To be honest, we weren’t well-acquainted prior to our encounter; it turned out we were both part of similar social groups. She disclosed this information.

On several instances, it turned out they nearly bumped into each other, but it wasn’t until one of Rona’s performances that they encountered each other for the first time. They immediately connected well.

Former AFL star Tony gushed of their romance: ‘It’s been great, honestly, been awesome.’

I must admit, I hadn’t previously known about Tony’s renown and public image until our acquaintance. It was others who enlightened me about his impressive career trajectory after we had already crossed paths.

She admitted: “I stumbled upon your Instagram and it seemed a few individuals had brought up your name. Frankly, I wasn’t familiar with ‘Tony’, as I don’t regularly tune in to his morning show on ABC News Breakfast at 6am.

Last year in November, the couple unveiled their romantic relationship publicly on Instagram, having been together privately for some time prior.

Skilled musician and disc jockey, Rona – a gifted Kaytetye woman – hails from the vibrant heart of Mparntwe (Alice Springs), nestled within the rich lands of Arrernte Country.

Beyond my role as a musician, I’m deeply invested in fostering sustainable economic growth for Indigenous communities here in Australia. I collaborate closely with Native Australian organizations, providing guidance and insights to create systems that empower our people economically.

Rona holds the positions of both the initial CEO of Common Ground and the Director of First Nations Futures. Previously, she served as the Director of First Nations at YLab.
