As a seasoned broadcaster myself, I can empathize with Philip Schofield’s current predicament. His life in showbiz has been nothing short of a whirlwind, filled with laughter, tears, triumphs, and controversies that could make even the most resilient among us falter.

On a somber note, Philip Schofield was seen heading out in western London last Friday, purchasing electronic cigarettes.

The ex-host of This Morning, who is 62 years old, appeared serious as he was spotted leaving a convenience store with multiple vaping devices.

In the midst of my unwavering dedication and loyalty, when the news about Philip’s affair scandal broke in May 2023, I found myself in a similar predicament. I too had become excessively engrossed in vaping, to the point where my hands would blister as a result.

Phillip cut a casual figure as he sported grey jeans, a black and white jumper and black trainers.

During his initial interview following his confession about the affair with a junior coworker on the program, Philip engaged in conversation with The Sun for a video chat session as he puffed on an electric cigarette of a blue color.

He said: ‘I am not sleeping, I am not eating. There’s a lot of Southern Comfort. My mind is in constant, utter turmoil. I think back to regrets, forwards to… What do I do now? What I am going to do now?

It turns out I’ve been using an e-cigarette quite frequently, without fully realizing it. Recently, though, I found myself experiencing discomfort, often spending time gazing up at the sky or out the window, lost in thought.

‘I just sit on the sofa and stare. I realise by doing that, I’ve blistered both hands’.

His somber expression stands in stark contrast to the radiant photo he posted on Instagram a month ago.

After more than a year since the incident, Philip continued to maintain an optimistic outlook, posting a picture of himself in a beautiful sunflower field.

He captioned his post: ‘What a find!!! New happy place.’

Despite having a relatively small number of comments on his social media posts, Philip continued to receive backing from his ex-colleagues. Specifically, Rochelle Humes expressed her approval by liking the photo, and Alice Beer added the simple yet encouraging remark “Gorgeous,” making it the sole comment on the post.

Support for Rochelle and Alice grew stronger as it seemed Philip’s reported return was gaining momentum, with numerous celebrities expressing their backing for the controversial host via his collection of Instagram posts.

Earlier this year, ITV found itself in upheaval after it was revealed that one of its prominent figures, Philip, had engaged in a romantic relationship with a significantly younger coworker, which, while not illegal, was considered unwise. Consequently, the host eventually chose to leave ITV entirely.

Beyond his professional turmoil, Philip’s rapport with co-host Holly Willoughby deteriorated during the controversy, and there were numerous media reports suggesting they had disagreements.

After the scandal, Philip temporarily withdrew from public view. However, in May, he reappeared on Instagram, sharing pictures of his pet dog, Alfie.

Stars like Richard E Grant, Rylan Clark, and Kate Garraway have shown their backing for Philip by liking and commenting on his social media posts.

His most recent post featured a snap of his dog with the caption: ‘Wet through with Uggs on.’

Although the number of comments on his post was relatively low, one comment appeared from Richard, who posted a string of heart emojis.

A recently uploaded video, dated Friday, features Phillip’s pet dog playfully hiding beneath a blanket, and Alice Beer, the consumer expert from This Morning, remarked: “What a jester he is.

Along with many others, Rylan and Kate Garraway both showed appreciation for Philip’s picture he posted a week ago. Additionally, Kate Garraway expressed approval on the celebrity’s post on July 14, prior to England’s Euro 2024 final match against Spain.

Philip was seen gradually re-entering public activities, as he attended the British Grand Prix accompanied by his wife Stephanie Lowe and their two daughters.

In May he was also was pictured smiling with I’m A Celebrity star Declan Donnelly, 48, during a night out, charging rumours that a return to TV for the axed presenter is on the cards.

It is said that he had recently dined for around four hours with ITV’s popular figure, and they were both laughing uncontrollably, at a nearby restaurant, when they were noticed.

Philip’s cherished daughter, Molly, has become his publicist following her decision to leave the talent agency that previously managed his career.

Public relations expert Mark Borkowski explains that his recent re-emergence follows a twelve-month period spent stepping back and taking time for personal reflection.

Borkowski remarked that he is an exceptional individual, stating, ‘He’s trying out new grounds. The public tends to be quite understanding.’

In a heartfelt conversation with the BBC last June, Philip shared that the end of his affair significantly impacted his professional life, and he confided that the aftermath had pushed him to the brink of despair, making him feel contemplative about taking his own life.

He shared the story about how his two daughters, Molly and Ruby, had not only shielded him but also kept a watchful eye on him to ensure he didn’t leave their side, essentially saving his life.

He admitted during the sit-down interview with Amol Rajan denied he had groomed the younger colleague, before telling critics: ‘Do you want me to die? Because that’s where I am.’

Philip left “This Morning” amidst a whirlwind of controversy, following his initial deception about a romantic involvement with a 34-years-junior male colleague, which while not breaking any laws, was deemed unwise.

As a conscientious lifestyle advisor, I always advocate for transparency and honesty. In line with this principle, I can share that, when whispers started circulating about certain relationships back in 2019, ITV, to its credit, took substantial steps to uncover the truth. This diligent investigation was spearheaded by esteemed barrister Jane Mulcahy KC.

However, the continuous denials prevented the broadcaster from discovering the truth until Schofield finally admitted it.

The fallout from the scandal led to the breakdown of his friendship with Holly Willoughby.

Following Philip’s departure from the show in May, Holly Willoughby eventually chose to leave in October, reportedly because of a suspected kidnapping scheme.

In March, Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley officially assumed the roles previously held by the duo, taking over the show permanently following a rotation of guest presenters in the daytime slot.

Back in March friends of the star have said that he is ‘quite certain’ he will never work again.

Lately, Philip has been feeling extremely low and uncertain about returning to work. It’s heart-wrenching for him to accept, but he understands that there aren’t many options available. He worries about who might hire him, as he sees no path leading back to ITV or the BBC.

People close to the celebrity claim that his friends are urging him to believe he can lead a “satisfying life” outside of entertainment.

One said: ‘Just because he may not be on telly again doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy his life. Phil isn’t so sure though.’

The star has though been tipped for a job on national radio – his ‘first love’ – with Britain’s largest commercial stations said to be jostling to bring him in to woo new listeners from rivals, including BBC Radio 2.
