What is Alex's plan back in New Eden in Snowpiercer?

As a longtime fan of the thrilling dystopian series “Snowpiercer,” I find myself constantly on the edge of my seat, and this latest season has been no exception. With Alex’s enigmatic character taking center stage, it’s become increasingly challenging to discern her true intentions.

In the thrilling world of Snowpiercer, I’ve found myself constantly questioning where Ms. Alex stands. It’s challenging to discern whose cause she truly supports, but one thing is clear – she seems to be playing a strategic game. There’s a hint that she might have a secret move in store, adding an extra layer of intrigue to her character.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 8.

In Episode 8 of Snowpiercer Season 4, we were concerned about Alex’s situation following Melanie’s gassing in Episode 7. However, upon resuming, we discovered that Alex had taken control within the Engine. A member of the Animal Squad assisted her in this task. Given that she is currently the only one capable of driving the train, it made sense for her to step up.

Alex isn’t shy about asking questions and can discern hidden meanings. Thanks to Wilford, she recognizes manipulative strategies, and from observing Nima, she knows how he presents things when concealing the truth. As a result, it didn’t take her long to realize that he wasn’t being truthful about Melanie. Instead of confronting him directly, she chooses to remain tactful.

Would Alex really destroy New Eden in Snowpiercer?

It appeared as though Alex was prepared to collaborate with Nima. Upon further investigation, she discovered that what he truly desired was to detonate his chemical substance in order to save the world that he had preserved. To accomplish this, Big Alice is necessary, which seems to be the true motive behind Milius’s pursuit of that train.

Is it possible that he and the Animal Squad view causing an avalanche as a more compassionate act towards New Eden’s inhabitants, as it might spare them from the prolonged suffering of living without Big Alice? After Big Alice is demolished, New Eden wouldn’t be able to endure and would wither away.

It appears that Alex supports the plan to move Big Alice, despite the reason behind it. But is she truly prepared to flip the track switch for Big Alice? Given her character, this seems unusual due to the friendships she has formed. While she prioritizes science, she also values humanity’s survival. With Ruth and Roach left in the cold, how can we ensure humanity endures? This scenario presents a challenge to Alex’s character.

It seems Alex might be harboring a secret scheme, as at the conclusion of Episode 8, she appeared reluctant for Wolf to accompany her into the room containing the track switch. This hints that she intends to cause harm instead of capturing Big Alice.

Based on what Nima said, it’s clear that Melanie’s design proposals indicate waiting a bit longer to refine Gemini. Upon hearing this, Alex understands that if Nima’s current version of Gemini is used, it could potentially cause more harm than good. Consequently, she will strive to ensure Melanie’s suggestions are implemented. A viable approach would be to hinder Big Alice’s opportunity for escape and thus preserving New Eden.
