As a cinema devotee with a deep-rooted passion for music and pop culture, I can hardly contain my excitement about Kendrick Lamar headlining the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show! Having grown up listening to hip-hop and R&B in the ’90s, I’ve witnessed the genre evolve into a powerful force that shapes society.
The first football season game has been played, yet the performer for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime is already decided: Kendrick Lamar will be the main act, as announced by Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL this past Sunday.
Super Bowl LIX will take place Feb. 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and will air on Fox.
Lamar is set to perform at the Super Bowl for a second time. His prior appearance was in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Anderson .Paak. This marked the first-ever halftime show dedicated to rap and hip-hop artists, which went on to win three Emmy Awards, including the unprecedented “outstanding variety special (live)” in Super Bowl halftime history.
In his statement, Lamar asserted that rap music remains the most influential genre so far. He also indicated he’d continue to underscore its significance. Essentially, he believes he’s the best person for the job.
More to come.
