Recently, Meg concluded her role in “A Child of Science,” a production directed by Matthew Dunster, who previously served as an associate director at Shakespeare’s Globe, on the stage of the Bristol Old Vic.
It tells the true story of in vitro fertilisation, and the group of Manchester medics who created it in 1978.
In the study, she portrayed the main character, Jean Purdy (a nurse), alongside Tom Felton who played the role of physiologist Robert Edwards.
Before she starred in the Netflix behemoth, she had never worked professionally.
In the month of April, 2023, she stumbled upon a job posting on Twitter, searching for an aspiring acting talent to portray a teenager from the Middleton family in “The Crown”.
Meg initially submitted a self-recorded video for her audition, and subsequently received an invitation to audition in person. In June, following multiple rounds of auditions and outperforming countless other candidates vying for the role, Meg was informed she had made it to the final eight and was asked to attend a table read at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.
Reflecting on that extraordinary day, I can confidently say it was the pinnacle of my life thus far. The emotions coursed through me: ‘If this opportunity doesn’t pan out, I’m just grateful for this incredible experience.’
Meg expressed her skepticism about the belief that 11:11 AM holds special luck and making wishes when the clock hits this time. “I’m not sure I buy into such ideas,” she said, finding it quite unusual.
In order to get ready for “The Crown,” she spent countless hours watching videos of Kate Middleton, carefully observing her gestures and tone of voice. She explains that it felt like spending a lot of time with her personally. This interaction created an unusual sense of emotional closeness.
After seeing Kate’s grace, kindness, and confidence, Meg found herself reconsidering her past indifference towards the monarchy. She will forever admire Kate.
Meg found her research so engrossing that following the conclusion of filming The Crown, she steered clear of reading tales concerning Kate.
She has made an effort to move past that character, but at the same time, she expresses deep sympathy towards the Princess of Wales upon hearing about her cancer diagnosis, sharing in their struggle and that of her family.
Among Netflix’s television series, none has garnered more Emmy awards than The Crown (currently boasting 21), and by Season Five, it was speculated to have a budget of approximately £11 million per episode. Meg found herself with significant expectations for the six-month production.
