The Handmaid’s Tale shares exciting season 6 update

As a long-time fan of The Handmaid’s Tale, I can hardly contain my excitement! After eagerly waiting for three years, production for the final season has finally started, and it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride until Spring 2025.

Supporters of “The Handmaid’s Tale” can now celebrate, as filming for the sixth and concluding season has commenced, and a release date has been announced.

In this dystopian tale, the story unfolds following a devastating second American Civil War, resulting in a world where fertile women, referred to as ‘Handmaids,’ are forced into servitude. Their physical wellbeing and reproductive capabilities are controlled by an oppressive regime, making them property of the state.

Since wrapping up the fifth season in 2022, viewers have anxiously anticipated the release of the finale, and now they’ve received some exciting news: it appears that filming is currently being carried out, as hinted by updates on social media.

Who do we have making a comeback? The production for the last season has commenced! #TheHandmaidsTale is set to return in Spring 2025, as indicated by this Instagram post featuring our leading actress, Elisabeth Moss, holding a clapperboard.

“Great job! This gives me plenty of time to re-watch the whole series before it starts again, yay! 🥳🙌,” wrote another fan, while a third expressed their relief, saying: “At last😓😓😓 It’s been three years!

The Handmaid's Tale shares exciting season 6 update

Bruce Miller, who transformed Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel into a series, earlier discussed the ending, stating: “It has been an immense privilege to narrate the tale of Margaret Atwood’s pioneering novel and the eerily contemporary world. We are excited to present audiences with a sixth and concluding season of The Handmaid’s Tale.

We appreciate Hulu and MGM’s permission to share this timeless story that sadly continues to resonate. We’re also amazed by our wonderful fans who’ve stood by us throughout, and without their constant support, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

The Handmaid’s Tale streams on Hulu in the US and both Channel 4 and Prime Video in the UK.
