Linkin Park has a new singer and a new album on the way

As a long-time fan who grew up with Linkin Park’s music, this news has filled me with a mix of emotions – joy and nostalgia, tempered by a bittersweet reminder of the void left by Chester Bennington. However, seeing the band rise from the ashes and embrace new beginnings gives me hope. I’ve always admired their resilience and ability to evolve while staying true to their roots.

Linkin Park is back.

Seven years following the passing of their lead vocalist in 2017, the impactful rap-rock group revealed on Thursday that they have reunited, intending to embark on a concert tour and produce a new studio album by autumn.

The recently appointed vocalist for the band is Emily Armstrong, formerly a part of the LA rock group Dead Sara; meanwhile, Linkin Park has a new drummer, Colin Brittain, who steps into the role previously held by Rob Bourdon. The rest of the band consists of rapper and producer Mike Shinoda, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn, bassist Phoenix (real name unknown), and they started the group in Agoura Hills back in 1996.

On November 15th, Linkin Park plans to debut their latest album titled “From Zero,” marking their first release since the 2017 album “One More Light.” Tragically, frontman Chester Bennington passed away by suicide at his home in Palos Verdes Estates just two months after the latter’s release. The new LP’s lead track, “The Emptiness Machine,” was unveiled on Thursday.

The original four founders of the band, who initially named themselves Xero before Bennington came along and they changed it to Linkin Park, have revealed that they’ve been reconnecting recently in an effort to recapture the creativity and camaraderie from their early days. Mike Shinoda explained the title “From Zero” represents both their humble origins and the current path they’re on. He described it as a blend of past, present, and future, embodying our signature sound but with a fresh, vibrant twist. It was created with great respect for our new and longtime bandmates, friends, family, and fans.

He noted that we’re proud of how Linkin Park has evolved throughout the years, and eager for the road ahead.

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t hide my excitement as next week marks the beginning of a global concert tour by Linkin Park! Kicking things off at Inglewood’s Kia Forum on September 11th, they will then move on to New York City, Hamburg, Germany, London, Seoul, South Korea, and Bogota, Colombia. I can hardly wait for these unforgettable performances!

In 2017, various artists including Blink-182, No Doubt, Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, Bring Me the Horizon, and System of a Down, joined Linkin Park members for a touching tribute to their late vocalist Chester Bennington at the Hollywood Bowl.
