Paul McCartney announces new album and drops new single (listen here)

We could all use more music from Paul McCartney. It’s amazing how he’s continued to write such beautiful songs for over sixty years! Luckily for fans, he’s releasing a new album in May.

His new album, titled The Boys of Dungeon Lane, will feature songs inspired by his childhood memories of growing up in Liverpool – before he became famous with a band called the Beatles. It seems those early days shaped a lot of his music.

The new album comes out on May 29th, released by MPL/Capitol Records. It’s expected to be a personal and reflective collection of songs. The first single, “Days We Left Behind,” gives a taste of what to expect: mellow, catchy melodies, and a very intimate feel. While not every song might sound exactly the same, that would be a great thing!

The song was released with a lyric video, and surprisingly, it actually makes the music feel more intimate. A full-fledged music video might not even be necessary. And yes, it’s incredibly catchy – you’ll definitely be humming it for a good reason!

Paul McCartney’s latest album and its title track were produced by Andrew Watt, a highly respected producer known for his work with legendary artists like the Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, and Ozzy Osbourne. Watt’s involvement suggests that while the album may be more subdued, it still has a strong rock foundation, even though this is McCartney’s 18th solo release (not counting cover albums).

I’m really excited about Paul McCartney’s new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. The press release says he’s being more personally revealing on this record than ever before, which is kind of surprising! I always felt like even when he wasn’t explicitly stating things, his emotions always came through in his amazing songs. He’s never been shy about letting us know what he’s feeling, just expressing it through his music, and that’s always been enough.

It’s unclear if Paul McCartney will tour after the album comes out. He’s scheduled to perform a few shows in Florida in late March, but these aren’t specifically to promote the new record. There’s still a chance he’ll announce more concerts soon, allowing fans to hear the new songs live.
