Gamers Oasis could revolutionize online esports

As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must admit that Gamers Oasis sounds like a breath of fresh air in the online gaming landscape. The idea of requiring webcams and live streaming for every player is both innovative and practical, deterring smurfing and ensuring fair play. I’ve encountered more than a few smurfs in my time, and it’s always disheartening to see skilled players given an unfair advantage.

Rather than solely observing experts play games, amateur players can actually make money by participating in their own matches.

Many gamers today invest countless hours playing various online games to achieve top positions, but imagine if they could compete for real money in one-on-one matches or tournaments against players at their own level? That’s precisely what Gamers Oasis is planning to introduce to the world of esports shortly by introducing the idea of “in-game betting” specifically designed for skill-based video games.

Gary Denham, head of Wamba Technologies and holder of the U.S.’s Gamers Oasis patent, plans to change the trajectory of online esports by adopting a system reminiscent of multiple online poker sites. Essentially, Gamers Oasis aims to serve as an intermediary, collecting a 10% fee from the entrance cost for head-to-head matches or tournaments.

In a hypothetical scenario where we organize a 1,000-player tournament, Denham mentioned during an interview with Xpsp, approximately 330 players would receive a payout. If you happen to be in the range of 230th to 330th place, you’ll get your initial investment of $110 back. The payout gradually increases as you approach the first-place position. It’s important to note that if you manage to finish within the payout positions, you will receive all your money back, including the 10% fee.

Denham went on to explain that Gamers Oasis ensures fair play by matching players with others of similar skill levels. He further disclosed that, according to statistics, a player stands a chance of winning at least once in every three tournaments they participate in. Additionally, players will have the flexibility to withdraw their winnings whenever they choose.

In an effort to understand more clearly the objectives of Gamers Oasis within online esports, Xpsp held a discussion with Denham, inquiring about his goals and the measures they intend to take to curb cheating and protect minors from making in-game bets.

Gary Denham’s motivation for building Gamers Oasis

Denham belongs to a generation that came of age during the time when the internet emerged and video games began to be created. Despite having gaming hours restricted by his parents in those days, he would often go to a friend’s place and play on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), swiftly developing an addiction for Super Mario Bros.

For quite some time now, the thought of participating in cash tournaments has been lingering on Denham’s mind ever since he discovered his exceptional skills in the global Scramble with Friends community, realizing that he had no avenue to earn money by playing this game.

Denham recollected that moment vividly. As he resumed his homework, a light bulb went off in his head. The more he delved into this industry, the more intriguing it appeared to him that no one had seriously explored the realm of online esports. Given the technological advancements since 2005 or 2006, allowing us to compete over the internet, it struck him as baffling in the early 2010s that there were no tournaments offering cash prizes. Yet, online poker was booming.

When Denham discovered an array of competitive video games lacking a monetary playing aspect, his vision spotted the opportunity within this gap, eventually securing the patent for online esports in the U.S., valid through 2037.

The concept of Gamers Oasis lies in enabling gamers to participate in online tournaments hassle-freely, with no third-party involvement. Denham aims to create an experience where the platform appears as a natural part of both current and future, widely-played games.

Gamers Oasis could revolutionize online esports

How will Gamers Oasis work and how will it prevent foul play?

At Gamers Oasis, all players must confirm their identity using official ID documents before they can join tournaments or head-to-head games. Additionally, a unique feature of our platform is that we ask every player to enable their webcam and broadcast their gameplay live.

To illustrate, this action helps avoid situations where an individual might share their account with a stronger player who intends to “smurf” or compete against less skilled opponents in various online games, including video games and online poker, which is a common occurrence in many such platforms.

“If you don’t want to stream, you don’t get to play with us. If you’re going to compete, for the sake of making sure that it’s a fair playing field, you must be streaming, period. We can employ facial recognition technology to make sure that the face of the person playing is, in fact, the account holder. There are ways to make sure that the person we’re seeing is the same person who is actually controlling the controllers. I can’t get into that right now because some of that stuff is protected, but we have the technology to enable us to do that.”

Denham on the conditions to utilize Gamers Oasis

As a dedicated gamer, I understand the frustration of being unfairly banned in online gaming communities. That’s why, when our automated systems flag someone on Gamers Oasis, we don’t just let it stand. We double-check to ensure that the computer didn’t make an error by having a real person review the case.

In summary, it’s important to note that Gamers Oasis maintains a strict no-cheating policy. If someone is found guilty of cheating, they won’t have the opportunity to utilize the platform again under a new account.

Is Gamers Oasis a betting company? How will the platform ensure kids aren’t using it?

As an enthusiastic gamer, I can’t wait to dive into Gamers Oasis! They’ve got a gaming system that mimics online poker, offering a range of options from micro to high-stakes buy-ins. But here’s the cool part: if you’re not ready for real money play, there’s also the option to use fantasy money instead. This way, everyone can join in the fun at their own comfort level!

Over the past two decades, poker has shifted from being seen primarily as a game of chance to one that requires skill. However, there’s still an element of unpredictability due to not knowing which cards will be dealt. The platform Gamers Oasis draws inspiration from online poker, but it does not consider itself a gambling site, as stated by Denham.

Let me clarify this point first: We’re not engaging in gambling. To illustrate, if you participate in sports like golf, tennis, Motocross, or NASCAR races, you pay an entry fee, compete, and can potentially win money. No one considers that as gambling. The fact that what we’re developing is swift and operates online doesn’t alter the truth that it’s entirely skill-based. There’s no element of chance involved in any way.

Denham on why Gamers Oasis isn’t gambling

The platform welcomes and motivates those underage individuals who aspire to participate, provided they have the approval and support of their parents.

Denham explained, “For those who are still minors, it means their parents will need to establish an account first. Then, a sub-account can be created for them. Generally, we won’t allow users under the age of 15 due to our requirement for government-issued ID for platform usage. Since minors usually don’t have such identification, they can’t participate on our platform.

Parents will be sent text notifications each time their child performs a deposit or withdrawal operation. This way, parents can monitor their children’s financial activities closely and stay updated on the amount their child is spending.

When does Gamers Oasis go live?

Currently, there isn’t a fixed launch date for the platform, but it is scheduled to start in the United States. However, this doesn’t exclude the possibility of its global expansion at a later time.

As an avid gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement about Gamers Oasis. While it’s still early days and we can’t predict with certainty whether this platform will transform online esports as we currently understand it, its potential is undeniably revolutionary.
