The Perfect Couple episode 4 recap: Romance is dead

As a seasoned gamer who’s navigated countless virtual mysteries and toxic relationships alike, I must say that the latest twist in The Perfect Couple has me hooked more than ever! Amelia, our supposedly innocent damsel in distress, finds herself in a tangled web of infidelity, yet again. And let me tell you, if this were a game, I’d be shouting “Game Over!” for her and Benji’s relationship.

Spoilers ahead for The Perfect Couple episode 4.

In no time at all, Amelia promptly handed Meritt’s bracelet she discovered among Will’s possessions over to the authorities. Following episode 3, it was Will who emerged as our prime suspect. Given his volatile nature, there’s a strong possibility he may have murdered Meritt out of rage. Yet, it’s worth noting that Will appears to be the only compassionate member within his family. For now, let’s pause on Will and summarize the key moments from The Perfect Couple episode 4.

The Perfect Couple episode 4 recap: Romance is dead

Amelia and the Shooter cross paths aboard Winbury’s private aircraft. Benji was running late, leaving just the two of them to journey together. From the start, their mutual attraction was clear as day. Tsk tsk, Amelia, we had thought you were purely innocent. Yet engaging in an affair with your best friend’s partner? That might not be the most heinous act. However, if I may be so bold, pursuing a relationship with your best friend’s future father-in-law is far more questionable, in my humble opinion. But still!

I can’t totally fault Amelia, given that Shooter seems to have more charm than Benji. Interestingly enough, it’s revealed later that Amelia had a past meeting with Shooter, three years back, which was a pleasant yet fleeting moment. Now, this doesn’t justify anything, but let me clarify! In any case, the situation becomes complicated when Benji enters and finds his fiancé and best friend in an embrace.

Returning to Will, it seems my suspicions were correct – he’s actually innocent. I always knew there was good in him. Will confides in Chief Carter that he overheard Meritt and her father discussing her pregnancy. He offered to help her financially as soon as he receives his trust fund at 18, which is currently when he turns 17.

If not Tag or Greer, then who?

What a toxic, complicated relationship! Greer talks to Meritt to let her know that she’s aware of her affair with Tag. Greer tells Meritt that she is the first of many and she will eventually find someone of her own. But when Meritt turns down a drink, Greer knows that this is not like other cases. Meritt is pregnant.

Greer passes the receipt for the bracelet she bought for Meritt to its tag, and informs Chief Carter that she truly hopes the individual responsible for Meritt’s demise will be apprehended. Is Greer now cleared as a suspect? Perhaps, but what about Tag? He appears unusually composed regarding the situation. However, if it wasn’t either Tag or Greer, then who else could it be?

All six episodes of The Perfect Couple are now streaming on Netflix.
