Sunrise star Natalie Barr stuns in baby blue alongside Matt Shirvington at racing event – after comforting emotional colleague Edwina Bartholomew amid cancer battle
As a dedicated follower of these remarkable women, I can’t help but admire their resilience and courage in the face of adversity. Natalie Barr, a beacon of strength, put on a brave face after a heart-wrenching day at work, only to grace us with her radiant presence at the Sydney Everest Carnival Long Lunch. Edwina Bartholomew, on the other hand, bravely faced her own battle with cancer, a testament to her unwavering spirit.
At the end of her workday, morning TV host Natalie Barr and her co-anchor Matt Shirvington maintained a strong front as they left together, supporting their colleague Edwina Bartholomew through her cancer treatment.
Only a few hours prior, during their morning broadcast, the 56-year-old breakfast show host could be seen holding hands with Edwina while breaking down in tears, revealing her unexpected health diagnosis live on television.
Today, the Seven-star graced the Sydney Everest Carnival Long Lunch held in Randwick on Friday, captivating spectators with its stylish appeal in a vibrant baby blue attire.
Natasha gracefully donned a blue chiffon robe that flowed behind her, this she paired with a jumpsuit of the same color. She then added a beige belt around her waist to accentuate it.
The co-anchor matched her accessories with a pair of beige pumps, gold half hoop earrings and a baby blue fascinator.
Natasha glowed, accentuating her sun-kissed eyes and bare lips, while her loosely curled brown bob highlighted the timeless elegance of her facial structure.
45-year-old Shirvo wore a stylish ensemble on his arm, consisting of a navy blue suit, a crisp white long-sleeved shirt, and a complementary lighter blue tie.
Only a few hours ago, Edwina, aged 41, expressed gratitude towards Natalie for urging her to undergo cancer tests. This eventually led to the detection of her health condition.
On the Sunrise program on Friday, the television personality struggled to hold back her tears when she confessed, “I have received a cancer diagnosis.”
‘That’s a shock to say and hard to say,’ she continued, her voice breaking with emotion.
This type is exceptionally beneficial. It’s known as Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. With a daily medication, it can be effectively managed. As long as I prioritize self-care, I should make a full recovery.
Leaving untreated, chronic myeloid leukemia, a type of cancer impacting the blood and bone marrow, could progress to a severe state.
Edwina revealed her co-star Natalie was to thank for getting diagnosed quickly.
In June, Natalie experienced a situation reminiscent of a skin cancer diagnosis on her nose. She openly discussed this matter on Sunrise at that point in time.
Natalie mentioned, “I had a persistent pimple on my nose for quite some time now, and it’s been a while since I last visited a skin specialist. So, I decided to make an appointment with a dermatologist.”
He mentioned that the small spot on his nose was a type of skin cancer. Fortunately, he detected it early, so the required treatment isn’t extensive.
In simpler terms, after Natalie told her story on air, Edwina immediately scheduled an appointment for herself following its broadcast, inspired to do so.
As I moved into the vibrant summer months of July, I found myself grappling with an unexpected, life-altering diagnosis – a journey I decided to tread privately, sharing my feelings only with a select circle of trusted colleagues who were my work family.
Eventually, Edwina shared with Sunrise viewers on Friday that she feels incredibly fortunate and wanted to express this sentiment for a few particular reasons.
Initially, it seems fitting to include you in our joy since we’ve shared countless memorable moments together – celebrations, commitments, and the arrival of newborns. This place has been a part of our lives, and so it feels natural to involve you as well in this latest chapter.
‘A lot of you have faced comparable struggles or even tougher times, yet emerged victorious and stronger. That’s my intention as well – to face the challenges head-on and emerge more robust and resilient.’
Edwina said the other reason she wished to share her sad news was because she wanted to encourage others to get checked.
For moms who are often focused on caring for others, remember to care for yourself as well. Don’t forget to visit your healthcare provider. This was her suggestion.
She expressed gratitude towards all her fellow actors for their backing, specifically acknowledging Natalie for frequently reaching out and preparing all the meals.
Edwina acknowledged her colleagues, Monique Wright and Sally Bowrey, who graciously rearranged their personal schedules to allow her to handle her own family obligations.
Following expressing gratitude to her superiors at Sunrise, Edwina disclosed that she plans on taking some time off in September and intends to reduce her working hours at Sunrise to only a few days per week.
