Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen explore a flooded cypress forest in mysterious Caddo Lake teaser
As a thriller enthusiast with a soft spot for atmospheric settings and compelling storylines, I am absolutely intrigued by the upcoming Max Original film, “Caddo Lake.” The teaser has managed to pique my interest without giving away too much about the plot, which only adds to the suspense. Having grown up exploring the dense, mysterious woods of the American South myself, I can’t help but be drawn in by the eerie beauty of Caddo Lake and its cypress forest.
I’ve just caught a glimpse of the tantalizing teaser for the upcoming thriller, Caddo Lake. While it doesn’t spill the beans on the movie’s storyline, it masterfully sets the stage for the ominous, swampy gloom of its eponymous location, Caddo Lake nestled deep within southern Texas and home to one of the world’s grandest flooded forests of cypress trees
In such a setting, one can easily imagine someone getting lost, and the storyline of Caddo Lake unfolds accordingly. It’s a gripping thriller revolving around the mysterious disappearance of an eight-year-old girl. This event connects several other disappearances and odd occurrences in the region, pushing a family already on the brink to breaking point. Beginning this October, the film will be available for streaming exclusively on Max
In this production, Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen take center stage. O’Brien is renowned for his roles in the MTV series “Teen Wolf” and films such as the “Maze Runner” franchise. Scanlen’s impressive resume includes the HBO miniseries “Sharp Objects,” “Little Women,” and “The Devil All the Time.” She has also appeared in the film “Old,” which was directed by M. Night Shyamalan
Diana Hopper, Caroline Falk, Sam Hennings, Eric Lange, and Lauren Ambrose also star.
Under the banner of a Max Original production, the film titled “Caddo Lake” is the work of producer M. Night Shyamalan, and the creative duo behind the camera, Celine Held and Logan George. Previously, this team has directed episodes for M. Night Shyamalan’s series on Apple TV+, called “Servant“
It appears that Held and George were drawn to Caddo Lake online by a stunning picture, which prompted them to travel to explore several cypress groves situated along the border between Texas and Louisiana. However, contrary to what it might seem, they didn’t shoot their movie on the lake itself. Instead, they filmed their project in Karnak, Texas during late 2021 and 2022 at various locations
Caddo Lake releases on Thursday, October 10, only on Max.
