BLAST responds to Maniac sexual assault allegations: “We have no current plans to work with [him]”

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from epic victories to crushing defeats, from friendly banter to toxicity that knows no bounds. However, nothing shocks me more than hearing about incidents like the one involving Mathieu “Maniac” Quiquerez.

BLAST also said this type of behaviour “will not be tolerated.”

On September 5th, tournament organizer BLAST addressed the sexual misconduct allegations against CS2 pro player Mathieu “Maniac” Quiquerez. These accusations were made by two women who claimed that Quiquerez inappropriately touched them without permission at a party following the BLAST Premier Spring Final in June 2024

The individuals making accusations against Quiquerez are freelance esports journalist Hannah Marie ZT and esports interviewer and show host Daisy “Dampptowel” Powers. So far, Quiquerez has denied any wrongdoing, but the claims have been supported by fellow esports personality Jack “Jacky” Peters, who is engaged to Daisy Powers and was present at the G2-hosted afterparty for talent participating in the BLAST event

Based on the accusations, it’s stated that Quiquerez repeatedly made inappropriate physical advances towards Hanna Marie ZT and Daisy Powers by groping and touching them several times, causing them to exit the dance floor. Furthermore, they claimed that he pursued them upstairs after they had left the initial location

The CS2 community has been eagerly awaiting a response from BLAST regarding the allegations made by the victims, who claim the tournament organizer conducted an investigation but failed to address their subsequent appeals. Although BLAST hasn’t provided many details due to confidentiality concerns, they have announced that they currently do not intend to collaborate with Quiquerez

PGL and ESL confirm Maniac will no longer be a part of their events

“EFG acknowledged claims made about one of their on-air analysts who worked for them this year. Although the alleged incident didn’t happen at an EFG event, the wellbeing of spectators, competitors, and staff is always their top concern. They are currently looking into the situation, and as a result, this individual will no longer participate in the live broadcast of the ESL Pro League moving forward.”

Previously collaborator of Maniac, PGL, made comments regarding the accusations through a brief message sent to Dust2.dk

According to PGL, he is no longer included in the roster participating in their competitive events, as he is now not a member of our team for tournaments organized by ESL, BLAST, and PGL, which are the leading organizers in CS:GO esports at present
