The Killers to perform as a four for the first time in nine years as headline act at UEFA Champions League Final Kick Off Show

For the first time in nine years, The Killers will perform as a full band, headlining the Pepsi-sponsored Kick Off Show before the UEFA Champions League Final this year.

The Killers – Brandon Flowers on vocals and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. on drums – will be playing a special show with original members Dave Keuning on lead guitar and Mark Stoermer on bass. They’re set to perform at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on May 30th, with the venue holding 70,000 fans.

To build excitement for their upcoming show, the band created a playful video called ‘The Race Begins’ featuring football legend Sir David Beckham.

Flowers was spotted playing pool before driving off in a unique electric blue convertible to compete with Beckham. Beckham, meanwhile, sped to the event in Budapest on a motorcycle.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m telling you, this band’s concert is going to be incredible! They’re promising a show full of all their biggest, most beloved songs – and yes, that definitely includes the anthem everyone knows and loves, ‘Mr Brightside’. Get ready to sing along!

The movie references how Pepsi’s Kick Off Show successfully combines football and music into an event you won’t want to miss.

The Killers were thrilled to accept the invitation to perform at the UEFA Champions League Final Kick Off Show, sponsored by Pepsi. They explained that certain venues are simply too iconic to pass up.

We’re thrilled to celebrate the amazing players and teams in what promises to be an unforgettable game.

PepsiCo’s International Beverages CEO, Eugene Willemsen, stated that Pepsi MAX has a long tradition of connecting fans globally with major events in sports and music, and this year will continue that trend.

We’re thrilled to announce that The Killers, one of the biggest rock bands of the last twenty years, will be performing in Budapest! Get ready for an amazing show filled with their famous, high-energy songs.

The final will feature two of the remaining 16 teams left in the tournament.

The Champions League final is usually watched by millions of people throughout Europe. Last year, Paris Saint-Germain won the competition, defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in Munich.

Even after Keuning and Stoermer left in 2017, The Killers—with Flowers and Vannucci—remained incredibly active, playing over 90 shows in 2022 and another 65 in 2023. They’ve also maintained a residency at Caesar’s Palace that continues into 2024.

After 25 years, some Killers fans are just now learning where the band got its name.

The band behind hits like “Somebody Told Me” and “Mr. Brightside” first came together in Las Vegas in 2001 with Brandon as the singer and Dave Keuning on guitar.

The next year, they expanded the band by adding bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr.

Even the most dedicated fans are just now discovering the true meaning behind the band’s name, apparently having been unaware of it until recently.

I always found it fascinating learning how The Killers got their name! It turns out they borrowed it from a band within the music video for New Order’s ‘Crystal,’ which came out way back in 2001. It’s a cool little bit of music history, honestly.

Okay, so this is amazing! I’m a massive New Order obsessive, and I always noticed this detail – in a music video, the fictional band’s drum kit had ‘New Order’ written on it! I was so excited when I read The Mirror US confirmed it – it’s like a little Easter egg for us die-hard fans, and it just proves how influential they are!
