Professor T boss’s new ITV crime drama with Downton Abbey star confirms release date

The new crime series, A Taste for Murder, will premiere this spring. Starring Phyllis Logan, known from Downton Abbey, the show is created by Matt Baker, who also co-created Professor T.

You can watch all six episodes of the series, set in Italy, starting Wednesday, May 13th, on ITVX.

The series centers around DCI Joe Mottram, portrayed by Warren Brown of Trigger Point, who travels to the island of Capri to rebuild his relationship with his teenage daughter (Beau Gadsdon) after the loss of their mother.

So, I ended up in this little coastal town and was immediately welcomed by my wife’s parents, Elena and Chef Gennaro. They run a fantastic restaurant right on the beach. I was hoping for a relaxing break, a bit of time to myself, but things quickly got complicated. A body washed up on the shore, and Gennaro’s nephew suddenly became the prime suspect! Now I’m caught in the middle of a mystery instead of enjoying my time off.

Joe soon becomes entangled with local Inspector Lara Sarrancino (Cristiana Dell’Anna), initially clashing with her before they eventually team up to solve a series of strange crimes on the island.

What to Read Next

As Joe investigates the crimes, he also learns to cook, and his journey into Italian cuisine unexpectedly provides him with helpful clues. Through cooking lessons with Gennaro and Elena, he not only improves his culinary skills but also becomes a better father and detective.

As the investigation progresses, the island’s peaceful facade begins to crumble, revealing a complex network of lies. This forces Joe to face a shocking reality that completely changes his life.

Baker explained that the show explores the challenges of keeping relationships strong while dealing with past trauma and loss, alongside a string of unusual murders deeply connected to the stunning Mediterranean setting.

He said it was a real joy to write, blending the worlds of crime and cooking with a uniquely British approach and Italian flair.

The cast of A Taste for Murder includes Alessandro Fella (known from Barbarians), Gaia Scodellaro (The Equalizer 3), and Alessandro Bedetti (Those About to Die).

A Taste for Murder will premiere on Wednesday, 13 May on ITVX.
