As a dedicated theater enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the transformative power of drag and parody shows, I am deeply saddened and disheartened by the recent events that have unfold-time has been hit show “Fountain Lakes in Lockdown Under Lockdown In Lockdown undergoes coast, Fountain Lakes In Lockdown: A Drag Parody Play, is facing death threats from online trolls.


A drag parody show, based on the iconic Australian sit-com Kath & Kim has been hit with death threats from online trolls.

On Tour Along Australia’s East Coast: The Humorous Drag Play, “Fountain Lakes In Lockdown,” Encountered Trouble as Performer and Writer Thomas Jaspers Disclosed That the Show Was Compelled to Collaborate with Police Due to Threatening Remarks Made Online.

Thomas said the virtual hate had been coming from ‘far-right snowflakes.’

Thomas said to news.com.au, “A handful of conservative individuals have had outbursts because they find it unsettling that men wear dresses.”

He added that while most of the troll commentary  had been ‘silly’ there were a few worrying comments that threatened the cast’s safety.

‘Generally speaking, it’s pretty silly stuff,’ Thomas said. 

However, certain remarks demand our heightened attention as they pose a potential risk to the cast’s wellbeing, since they involve threats to their safety.

Additionally, it was disclosed that the crew encountered a situation requiring police intervention in an undisclosed location along their travel route.

He added that the local authorities had been ‘amazing’ in dealing with the threats.  

Thomas expressed, “Regrettably, we needed to reach out to our local law enforcement, and they’ve been simply fantastic.”

They mentioned that they would physically attend the event to ensure that if they decide to intervene, they will not have access to the venue or the team.

Speaking directly to the trolls, Thomas urged them not to come to the show.

‘You don’t have to come. It’s actually got nothing to do with you,’ he  said.

The performance that just concluded with a full house in Melbourne features Art Simone, runner-up of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, as well as drag artist Leasa Mann, alongside actors Scott Brennan and Thomas Jaspers.

From 2002 to 2005, this captivating show graced our screens on the ABC network, spanning a total of three thrilling seasons.

Poking fun at the banality of suburbia, the lauded sit-com which also starred Magda Szubanski, Glenn Robbins and Peter Rowsthorn went on to become one of Australia’s most beloved comedies. 

This popular comedy series attracted a number of well-known guests such as Kylie Minogue, Matt Lucas from “Little Britain,” Eric Bana, and the legendary cricketer Shane Warne.
