Yars Rising Story Trailer Showcases Anime-Inspired Metroidvania Action
As a seasoned gamer with decades of pixels and polygons under my belt, I can’t help but feel a nostalgic twinge when I see the return of an old classic like Yars. But it’s not just the retro charm that has me intrigued; it’s the modern twist WayForward has given to Emi’s adventure in Yars Rising.
In the days leading up to the upcoming release of Yars Rising, Atari in collaboration with WayForward has unveiled a fresh narrative trailer. This sneak peek provides insight into our cyber-savvy heroine, Emi, and the perilous task she embarks on.
In Yars Rising, an anime-inspired 2D metroidvania game, you play as Emi who finds herself imprisoned within the Qotech facilities after being caught hacking their servers. Your objective is to escape by navigating a labyrinth filled with lethal laser barriers, aggressive sentinels, and puzzling bio-engineering experiments that could prove fatal for Emi.
Emi possesses the ability to reveal secret upgrades that boost her skills, allowing her to navigate previously inaccessible zones, all while relying on stealth and computer skills to evade Qotech’s perils. Additionally, Emi has the option of charging ahead with gunfire, providing flexibility in your choice of tactics.
Yars’ Rising is set to debut on 10th September for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
