Ahsoka Season 2 to begin filming in 2025 after The Mandalorian and Grogu wraps

As a dedicated Star Wars fan with over two decades of fandom under my belt, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement when I heard that Ahsoka Season 2 is set to begin filming next summer! Despite the initial mixed reception to season 1, the promise of big and exciting things ahead for our beloved Rebel friends has me eagerly anticipating the new season.

Fans of Star Wars learned about the progress of Ahsoka Season 2 directly from Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who portrays Sabine Wren, during her recent appearance at Dragon Con.

According to reports, it appears that Ahsoka will start filming in the summer of 2025, following the completion of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Although no video or specific quote about Season 2 from Bordizzo has been made available online, this information seems reliable based on what several sources have shared.

Although Ahsoka’s first season received varied responses, there’s widespread enthusiasm for its upcoming second season. The first season hinted at grand and thrilling developments for Ahsoka and her comrades like Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Chopper. Notably, Grand Admiral Thrawn returns, but so does Ezra. However, the season finale finds Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on Peridea, a desolate region in another galaxy where Thrawn and Ezra found themselves post-Star Wars Rebels, Season 4.

Currently, Dave Filoni is engrossed in collaborating with Jon Favreau on “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, which marks the first Star Wars film since “The Rise of Skywalker” in 2019. Filoni is also jointly penning this project with Favreau, and they revealed at D23 2024 that production on the eagerly awaited venture had already begun. Given the significance of “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, it’s highly likely that Lucasfilm will prioritize this project, making it challenging for “Ahsoka” to move into development until the film is completed.

Despite limited information available about Season 2 of Ahsoka, whispers indicate a comeback by Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, who reappears through the World Between Worlds in Episode 5 titled “Shadow Warrior”. In the season finale, Anakin is seen once more as a Force spirit, looking on approvingly at his former Padawan. The narrative holds promise, as Ahsoka and Sabine find themselves marooned on Peridea, accompanied by Shin Hati, Baylan Skol, and enigmatic Mortis God statues. Whether they manage to reunite or encounter challenges that drive them apart remains to be seen.

In Season 2 of Ahsoka, expected to debut as early as 2026, a number of intriguing queries, including this one, are likely to be addressed.
