It seems that the upcoming MMO “Dune: Awakening,” developed by Funcom, is facing difficulties in being compatible with the Xbox Series S due to its lower specifications. Consequently, the game will initially be released on PC rather than consoles.
“So, it’s one of the reasons we’re coming out on PC first. There’s a lot of optimisations we need to do before we release on the Xbox,” Chief Product Officer Scott Junior explained during an interview at Gamescom. “But yeah, Xbox Series S is a challenge”.
Earlier, Baldur’s Gate 3 experienced significant setbacks because Larian Studios was dealing with challenges related to the Xbox Series S. Meanwhile, there have been rumors suggesting that Black Myth: Wukong may have faced delays on Xbox due to the technical limitations of the Series S. However, it’s also speculated that in this case, a potential secret deal favoring Sony might be the reason.
As a gamer, I’m truly excited about Dune: Awakening, given its massive, desert-scaped world of Arrakis. However, it seems we’ll have to be patient, as the game is set to launch on PCs first in early 2025, so let’s mark our calendars and prepare for an epic journey ahead!
