Davina McCall, 56, reveals why she refuses to act or dress her age and admits the new series of My Mum, Your Dad made her cry

As a self-proclaimed devotee of Davina McCall and her enchanting journey through life, I find myself utterly captivated by her unyielding zest for living and refusal to succumb to societal expectations of age. This woman, at 56, embodies the spirit of a pioneer, a trailblazer who’s not only shattering stereotypes but also reminding us all that life is a beautiful adventure best experienced with reckless abandon!

Davina McCall has shared why she chooses not to conform to her age when it comes to acting and dressing, and additionally disclosed that the latest season of ‘My Mum, Your Dad‘ left her in tears.

In September, the second season of ITV’s show titled “My Mum, Your Dad” is set to be aired. This series focuses on middle-aged singles seeking new relationships, all while their kids keep a keen eye on the proceedings.

Before its upcoming airing, at age 56, Davina reflected on shared characteristics with the competitors and reminisced about a deeply emotional scene from the latest season.

Davina shared with The Mirror, “We, from our generation, are the trailblazers of a novel wave of middle-aged individuals. We are those who danced at the raves, experimented with various substances, pioneering change. Our past was marked by mischief, excitement, and audacity – only to follow it up with parenthood.”

“After living peacefully for eighteen years, we find ourselves pondering: ‘Alright, it’s time to start anew.’ It feels as if we’ve been given a fresh opportunity in life, and we’re seizing this second chance, with our children watching us along the way.”

In a particular instance, I’ll express my heartfelt gratitude to my mom, Jenny, who’s turned 51, for every bit of love and support she’s showered on me throughout our shared journey, when I’m 19 years old.

Davina admitted that she had been overcome with emotion, saying, “I did shed some tears. And let me tell you, it’s incredibly touching. It’s as if I told the parents about their children: ‘They’re not here to joke around. They’re not mocking you.'”

While the format at of the programme remains the same, there will be an addition.

Since their kids were present, the contestants were hesitant about engaging in physical confrontations. However, for the second season, there will be a hidden sex dungeon available – with an option to dim the lights.

My Mum, Your Dad launched in 2023, was touted to be the middle-aged version of Love Island.

Series two was confirmed in October but an exact release date has not yet been announced.

In the debut trailer for the forthcoming series, a few actors shed tears while witnessing an emotionally intense scene between two parent characters.

In the meantime, it appears temperatures will rise significantly as two adults share an intense kiss in their bedroom, leaving their adult children utterly shocked.

The group includes Christian along with his son Lucas, David accompanied by his daughter Tiana, Maria with her daughter Livia, Andy together with his daughter Issy, Davina, Clare, and Aimee (who is Davina’s daughter), Vicky and her daughter Angharad, Jenny and her son Malachi, as well as Danny and his son Ellis.

It’s yet to be revealed which characters will end up together as the show comes back on TV this September.

My Mum, Your Dad will air on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
