This Morning’s Ben Shephard poses with his rarely-seen ‘very patient’ wife Annie as they celebrate 22 years of marriage

Ben Shephard celebrated 22 years of marriage to his wife, Annie, by posting a sweet and uncommon photo, calling her ‘the best thing to ever happen to me’.

The 51-year-old host of This Morning shared an old photo of himself and his partner, recalling their early days together.

I still get goosebumps remembering it! Twenty-two years ago today, Annie Shepherd – @mrsannieshephard – playfully said, “Oh, go on then!” and honestly, that was all it took. It was the start of something incredible!

He said it took him nine years to realize she was the one and finally propose, but she remains the best thing that’s ever happened to him. He then jokingly mentioned his other passion: West Ham legend Mark Noble.

Okay, seriously, when Ben posted that adorable thing, the comments EXPLODED! Everyone was losing it! Joel Dommett, his partner in podcast crime, just wrote ‘THIS IS THE BEST’ in all caps – can you even?! And Cat Deeley, his co-star on This Morning, was SO cute, she playfully called him ‘The Marvelous Mrs Sheps’! I’m living for all the love, honestly. It’s just… perfect.

Ben and Annie got married in Salcombe, Devon in 2004. They first met while studying at the University of Birmingham.

Ben revealed on Instagram that he waited nine years before proposing to his partner, and he actually proposed in Paris a year before their wedding.

Ben recently revealed the key to his successful marriage and family life with Annie, with whom he has two sons, Sam, 21, and Jack, 19.

He told the Daily Mail that Annie was with him even before his television career began, and she’s supported him through all of life’s ups and downs.

He described her as incredibly patient, then playfully added that he himself was patient with new shoes. But seriously, he said, they were already good friends when their relationship began.

Ben has hosted many popular shows over the past twenty years, including This Morning, Tipping Point, and now The Summit. Meanwhile, Annie has intentionally lived a more private life, focusing on raising their family and working as an interior designer.

‘Annie has been brilliant at allowing me the space to go off and do the job I do,’ Ben explained. 

She’s been the heart of our family, creating a loving home where our sons have thrived and helping me become a better father. Her impact on all of us has been incredible.

Ben and Annie are preparing for the next stage of their marriage, become empty nesters. 

The older son, Sam, is currently studying math at university. His younger brother is working as a teaching assistant to earn money for a trip after he finishes.

He’s used to being around a lot of people – boys, their friends, and girls – so things are much quieter now, and he’s already noticing the change. However, he’s looking forward to the challenge of figuring out this new chapter at home with just Annie.

I’m just so thrilled for her and everything she’s doing! It’s a really exciting time, you know? It’s just…we both lead such busy lives. I’m always working on my stuff, and she’s completely immersed in her amazing garden and interior design work. It’s great that we both have our passions, but sometimes it feels like we’re worlds apart, even though I adore everything about her.

When I have free time, I like to be active – things like playing golf, running, going to the gym, or watching football or rugby.

She’d like to visit an art gallery or a garden. We’re trying to find activities we both enjoy, and it feels really good to be doing that.
