As a die-hard fan of both Nicole Kidman and captivating cinema, I must confess that the anticipation for her latest project, Babygirl, has left me absolutely giddy with excitement! The sheer audacity of this film, delving into raw human emotions and complex relationships, is exactly what makes it so intriguing.

Keith Urban turned a shade of red when queried about whether he had watched his wife, Nicole Kidman’s latest erotic thriller titled Babygirl.

On the weekend, Urban made an appearance on The Sunday Project, during which David Walliams, a comedian and panelist, expressed eagerness to learn about the singer’s views on the provocative movie.

‘Have you seen Nicole’s new movie, Babygirl? It’s meant to be an erotic thriller,’ he asked.

Keith admitted that he had not, which prompted David to probe: ‘Are you looking forward to it?’

In a somewhat agitated state, Keith admitted with enthusiasm: ‘Indeed, I am quite…’, then proceeded to express his pride in Nicole, stating she had the courage to make bold decisions.

The country star then thrilled his fans by announcing that he has an Australian tour planned.

“He expressed his excitement about returning and performing next year, specifically in August, at venues including Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Wollongong.”

The “High and Alive” tour kicks off at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on August 13, 2025.

After confessing that she found it exposing, Nicole filmed several intimate scenes involving self-pleasure and a portrayal of a dominant/submissive dynamic for the provocative new thriller titled Babygirl.

Yesterday, during the global premiere of the movie at the Venice Film Festival, the actress, who is 57 years old, admitted that her hands trembled nervously because it was such a significant moment for the film’s debut.

Emerging talent Harris Dickinson delivers a breakthrough performance as Samuel, the intern who senses that his superior, CEO Kidman of a tech company, desires submission.

Since the release of the enchanting, erotic thriller “Eyes Wide Shut” with her former husband Tom Cruise about a quarter of a century ago, Kidman hasn’t produced anything quite like it.

She mentioned that having an intimacy coordinator and a closed set were essential for creating the sex scenes, as they portrayed her character’s existential struggle, ultimately resolving it through a daring journey of breaking sexual taboos.

Nicole Kidman stated that the movie undeniably touches upon themes of sexuality, yet it delves deeper into desires, personal reflections, hidden aspects, marital dynamics, authenticity, authority, and consent.

‘This is one woman’s story and this is I hope a very liberating story. It’s told by a woman through her gaze. It’s Halina (Reijn’s) script, she wrote it and she directs and that made it unique, that suddenly I was going to be in the hands of a woman with this material. It was very dear to our shared instincts and very, very freeing.’

She stated: ‘I believe there’s no preconceived opinion about the character. It’s up to individual interpretation how they perceive Romy and her actions. My association with it is my desire to delve into what it means to be human, particularly women, on screen, by exploring the various aspects of humanity and the complexities of that journey.’

She mentioned that she felt: “open, exposed, and terrified about sharing it with others,” yet creating it was a: “tender, personal, and profoundly meaningful” experience for her.

She expressed: ‘I had no doubts she wouldn’t take advantage of me. Regardless of how others might perceive it, I didn’t sense exploitation. Instead, I felt included in the experience. There was an immense amount of nurturing among us all, and we were all kind to one another, providing support for each other. It felt genuine, secure, and yet, genuine at the same time.’

The movie begins by portraying Romy Mathis, acted by Nicole Kidman, appearing to genuinely climax during an intimate moment with her on-screen spouse, Antonio Banderas’ character, followed by her departing for a separate room where she indulges in self-pleasure using explicit content.

In a departure from typical erotic dramas like Basic Instinct, she delves into her craving for submission with her intern. However, unlike those portrayals, her female desire doesn’t lead to her career or family life being compromised. Instead, she maintains her professional authority and marital status by the story’s end.

In a different phrasing, the character Babygirl perceives Nicole Star as a successful, high-profile New York businesswoman who embarks on a daring romantic entanglement with one of her significantly younger interns.

She takes on the role of Romy, a business executive who is balancing her career with trying to find fulfillment in her marriage to a theatre director (Antonio).

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must confess that the actress in question has expressed some uncertainty about summoning the courage to view her film at the prestigious Venice Film Festival.

In conversation with Vanity Fair, she expressed: “I feel a part of me saying: ‘This is meant for the cinematic experience and to be watched with an audience. I’m unsure if I possess quite that level of courage.'”

‘I’ve made some films that are pretty exposing, but not like this.’

Nicole added that Babygirl is the most ‘exposing’ film of her career to date.

The actress from Big Little Lies admitted that she feels quite uneasy about viewers watching the movie’s explicit love scenes.

She remarked: ‘It feels quite strange, realizing that what I’m doing will now be visible to everyone across the globe.’

Nicole expressed her concern about viewers witnessing the intimate scenes, acknowledging that the emotionally exposed filming experience left her feeling frayed.
