DWTS pro Cheryl Burke left ‘in complete shock’ over Artem Chigvintsev’s domestic violence arrest
As a seasoned observer of celebrity lives, I must say, the rollercoaster ride of Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev’s relationship leaves me both awestruck and amused. Their love story, filled with twists and turns, mirrors more closely a dance routine on Dancing With The Stars than a traditional romance.
Cheryl Burke reacted to her former Dancing With The Stars colleague Artem Chigvintsev recent domestic violence arrest.
On Thursday, Artem, aged 42, was imprisoned due to felony domestic violence allegations following an incident at the joint residence with his partner Nikki Garcia, which is valued at approximately $1.5 million in California.
He was released on $25,000 bail just hours later and Nikki has since left the state with their four-year-old son Matteo, as per photos obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com on Saturday.
In the latest installment of her Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans podcast, professional dancer Burke expressed her astonishment, stating she was left utterly shocked by Artem’s arrest.
“Burke finds it difficult to smile at the moment due to the ongoing news,” expressed Burke, who’s had a close friendship with the Russian-born individual over the years.
She went on, expressing, “It’s quite challenging for me since he’s part of my family.” Pausing, she added, ” frankly, I’m at a loss for words, all I can say is that I sincerely hope everyone is alright.”
Before their fame on Dancing with the Stars, Burke and Chigvintsev had a bond that went back to their childhood years, as Burke shared that they essentially grew up side by side.
“Previously, Burke resided with our family under the same roof in the Bay Area,” he shared. “I find it hard to believe, and it stirs up emotions within me.”
‘My heart goes out to everyone involved,’ Burke concluded.
On Thursday at 10am PST, Chigvintsev was arrested in Yountville, a town in Napa County where the couple has resided for the past few years, due to allegations of domestic violence (corporal injury to spouse), according to TMZ.
On the same day, Artem was taken into custody at the Napa County Jail for felony domestic violence allegations at approximately 10:59 am Pacific Time. Later, he was granted bail and released from jail.
A mugshot released by the Napa County Sheriff’s office showed the dancer looking stoic in a green-patterned plaid shirt.
According to reports, it’s said that he was escorted out of the prison in a black Ford F-150 pickup truck and hasn’t reappeared at his family residence since then.
According to a news report confirmed by radio dispatch, it’s been stated that the DWTS professional made an emergency call for help, alleging that his wife had hurled footwear at him.
However, after that, he canceled the emergency medical assistance call. Yet, when the police arrived at his home an hour later, they apprehended Chigvintsev.
Nikki broke her silence on the incident in a statement asking for privacy.
The representative of the WWE star stated on Friday that this issue is personal and they kindly request respect for Nikki’s privacy as well as that of her loved ones.
According to exclusive photographs from DailyMail.com, Nikki and her son Matteo were spotted embarking on a JSX flight towards Sin City at the Oakland airport on Saturday.
On Sunday, Nikki, dressed casually in a low-neck brown top and loose jeans, will oversee a highly anticipated hot dog eating competition between Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi at the Luxor Casino. This event will be broadcast live on Netflix.
She was not wearing her wedding ring at the time of boarding.
Two days following the celebration of their second wedding anniversary, the well-known dancer, originally from Russia and specializing in Latin dance, was apprehended. This significant event was acknowledged by both partners on their individual Instagram accounts.

In 2017, they initially crossed paths while dancing together on Dancing with the Stars, yet it so happened that Bella was already betrothed to an actor and professional wrestler named John Cena during that period.
However, the couple ended their engagement the year after, and later on, Nikki started dating Chigvintsev.
They welcomed their first child together, son Matteo, on July 31, 2020.
She gave birth to her son Buddy, making him her second child with husband Daniel Bryan, only 22 hours after her twin sister, Brie Bella (born as Brianna Monique Garcia-Colace), had also welcomed a newborn.
Besides their fame as WWE legends, the twins, particularly Nikki, are most recognized for their popular E! reality series titled “Total Bellas.”
