Nikki Garcia seen boarding plane to Vegas minus her wedding ring and without Artem Chigvintsev following his domestic violence arrest
As a dedicated follower of the dance world, this recent news about Artem Chigvintsev and his wife Nikki Garcia has left me quite bewildered. I’ve been following their journey since Artem graced our screens on Dancing With The Stars, and their love story seemed like a beautiful dance waltz in the ballroom of life.
In response to the arrest on domestic violence charges, Artem Chigvintsev’s spouse has departed from the peaceful California town that they both considered home.
42-year-old Chigvintsev was missing when ex-WWE star Nikki Garcia hurried off to Las Vegas early on Saturday morning.
The glamorous mom-of-one was seen boarding a JSX flight to Sin City at Oakland airport without her wedding ring and had four-year-old son Matteo and an assistant in tow.
Brunette Garcia, who was wearing a brown low-cut top and baggy jeans for the trip, is due to host a hotdog eating contest between Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi at the Luxor casino on Sunday, which will be screened on Netflix.
The journey takes place within approximately 48 hours of authorities being summoned to the couple’s luxurious matrimonial residence in Yountville, California, due to allegations of a disagreement.
According to reports, the couple made two calls to 911; initially, they asked for help due to an injury, but later on, they changed their mind and asked that the paramedics stay away.
However, despite the noise of a household argument echoing in the backdrop, officers from the Napa County Sheriff’s Department still responded to the tranquil neighborhood, eventually apprehending Mr. Chigvintsev, who hails from Russia.
He was booked into the Napa County Jail on felony domestic violence charges at 10:59 am before being released on a $25,000 bond at approximately 2.18am.
The Napa County Sheriff’s office published an image of the ballroom celebrity, who appeared somber with a scruffy beard and wore a plaid shirt, often associated with outdoorsmen.
According to reports, he left the family residence in a black Ford F-150 pickup truck and hasn’t come back since.
Initial reports from 911 dispatches (first reported by TMZ) show that Matteo was within the house when the alleged domestic incident occurred. It also mentions that the couple were engaged in a disagreement beforehand.
At first, it seemed like a medical emergency was being reported, but later on, the caller clarified that there had been an argument between him and his spouse, and his wife had thrown shoes at the person making the report. This is what the dispatcher explained during the call.
The dispatcher stated, “A child is present here. An ambulance is coming. In the background, someone is causing a disturbance under section 415.”
The arrest occurred just a few days following their wedding anniversary celebration in August 2022, which they had announced on social media. This arrest allegedly took place soon after an incident where Garcia is said to have thrown shoes at her husband.
Garcia shared pictures and clips from their wedding, captioning them: ‘This tune encapsulates our love tale. I’ll forever remember the place when I inquired about Artem from Jesus.’

On his personal social media post, Chigvintsev wrote: “Happy anniversary, my dear! I can’t imagine my life without you. You are my world.”
Over the weekend, I’ve been eagerly awaiting any word from my beloved idol, Garcia. However, neither of us has spoken about the recent event. But on Friday, a heartfelt statement came from his camp, requesting everyone to respect their need for privacy in these trying times.
Reports indicate that Chigvintsev will appear in court in Napa on Tuesday, due to an ongoing incident. Until his case is settled, he is not permitted to leave Napa County.
Although they seem to be happily in love based on their social media posts, their relationship has not always been smooth sailing since she appeared as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2017.
In 2020, Matteo was warmly welcomed, and later, Garcia disclosed on The Tamron Hall Show that they had been undergoing therapy. The primary purpose of this was to become exceptional parents, as well as learning how to effectively manage both family life and their personal relationship.
In the same year, on the Off The Vine podcast, she clarified more about their situation. She revealed that they sought counseling as a couple because of the way Artem communicated with her.
In the Bellas podcast, held in November 2021, the ex-WWE wrestler disclosed that her relationship with Chigvintsev had encountered some turbulence, yet they have emerged stronger than before.
Previously, it was disclosed that just before their wedding in 2022, Garcia and Artem had a severe disagreement.
