Rings of Power star lands next lead movie role in UK-set biopic

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for epic narratives, I have to say that the news about Robert Aramayo’s role in ‘I Swear’ has me truly excited! After witnessing his captivating portrayal of Young Elrond in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power‘, I can’t wait to see him bring the story of John Davidson, a real-life hero, to life on the big screen.

Actor Robert Aramayo, who plays a leading role in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” has secured his next major film part in the British biographical drama titled “I Swear.”

Director Kirk Jones is embarking on his first feature film in eight years with the movie titled “I Swear“. This film chronicles the life of John Davidson, a prominent advocate for Tourette’s Syndrome. The main shooting for this production has recently been completed in Scotland (as reported by Variety)).

In the movie, Aramayo takes on the role of Davidson, portraying the character’s life story as he navigates through his challenging adolescence and young adulthood marked by Tourette’s syndrome.

At age 15 during the 1980s in Great Britain, Davidson received a diagnosis for Tourette’s Syndrome, an era where the condition was often misconstrued and not fully comprehended.

In the synopsis for the movie, it is stated that Davidson, who is often labeled as mad by those around him, struggles to lead a typical life despite having a condition rarely seen by others.

In addition to Renee Zellweger from “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, the movie “I Swear” features actress Shirley Henderson, Maxine Peake known for her role in “Anne”, and Peter Mullan, a familiar face from “Ozark”. Moreover, it includes individuals who personally experience Tourette’s Syndrome.

The movie creators collaborated extensively with people from the Tourette’s Syndrome community to accurately portray the disorder in the film.

Besides taking on the role of director, Jones additionally functions as a producer, working together with Georgia Bayliff and Piers Tempest. This talented team extended their appreciation in a statement, acknowledging: “It was both delightful and humbling to bring the tale of John Davidson MBE to fruition.”

“During a period when Tourette’s syndrome was not well-understood, John himself lived with the condition. Throughout his life, he’s been dedicated to ensuring that individuals diagnosed with it nowadays don’t face the same struggles and misconceptions he did.”

In their own words, “Robert Aramayo gave an exceptional performance after dedicating and investing immense effort into his role. He even spent several months working closely with John in Galashiels.”

“Our team was resolute in ensuring the narrative accurately portrayed the humor, feelings, and dramatic aspects of life with Tourette’s, as we aimed to create a film that resonated. Working on this distinctive project has been an honor for everyone involved, from the crew to the actors and production team.”

In 2022, I was thrilled to bring Young Elrond to life in the initial season of “The Rings of Power.” This epic journey continued as we eagerly awaited the premiere of its second season on Prime Video, which finally graced our screens on Thursday (August 29).

In our assessment, Digital Spy commended the improved character growth and overall tighter narrative structure presented in season two.

As of now, there’s no confirmed air date for the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” However, you can catch up on its current episodes, which stream every Friday, only on Amazon Prime Video.
