Tournament format

16 teams participate in TI 2024, with six receiving invitations and the remaining ten earning their spots through Regional Qualifiers. The Group Stage takes place from September 4 to September 5, divided into four groups, each consisting of four teams. This initial phase serves for accumulating points and determining a group ranking; no team risks disqualification during this round.

From September 6th to 7th, the event known as the Seeding Decider takes place. During this time, paired teams engage in three-game series (BO3) against each other. The outcome of these matches determines the seeding order for the Main Event.

The Main Event consists of the Playoffs and the Finals, where the final eight teams play on stage in front of a live audience. The Playoffs is a double-elimination bracket with all series being a BO3 except for the BO5 Grand Finals.

The International 2024 Prize Pool

For The International 13 (TI13), Valve initially set a base prize pool at $1.6 million. An additional 25% of the sales from 2024’s Compendium will be added to this amount. However, as I write this, the total prize pool stands at only $2.3 million – just five days before the tournament commences.

It’s probable that the prize money for TI12 won’t be as high as it was last year (TI11), which offered less than $3.4 million. The exact prize distribution will be announced when the total prize pool is confirmed.

Valve makes TI 2024 ad free, orgs are unhappy

In simpler terms, Valve has made a surprising announcement that teams are no longer permitted to display their sponsors within the game itself. This means that you won’t see brand names like BetBoom, 1win, or Gaimin on the game interface, such as team flags, banners, and logos.

1) While some were overjoyed by the announcement, many organizations are deeply concerned because it could impact their financial stability. The Gaimin Gladiators commented, “Now it makes sense why the Midas bug persists – so we can generate income even from a game that’s no longer active.”

The CEO of Cloud9, Jack Etienne, also says that this decision is a gut punch to teams, who only knew about it days before TI13 begins. Cloud9 recently entered Dota 2, partnered with crypto casino BC.GAME.

Valve releases final patch before TI 2024: Patch 7.37c

As a dedicated fan, I’m gearing up to dive into an unexpected study session! Only five days before TI13 kicks off, we’re getting hit with a fresh mini patch, patch 7.37c. This update brings modifications to 7 items and no less than 39 heroes, with Zeus and Anti-Mage receiving significant boosts. However, the most impactful reductions were seen in Omniknight, Sven, and Tinker. But overall, the hero changes are relatively minor, focusing more on fine-tuning across various aspects and abilities. Let’s brush up and adapt quickly to stay on top of our game!
