Star Wars Outlaws is out now! Here are what the reviews are saying!

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen the Star Wars universe come to life in countless ways. From lightsaber battles to space dogfights, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of stepping into that galaxy far, far away. So when I heard about Star Wars Outlaws, I knew it was a game I had to play.

Experience the newest addition to a distant galaxy’s gaming realm! Today, Star Wars Outlaws has been released! This is the initial open-world title in the series, focusing on the escapades of Kay Vess and her alien companion Nix as they journey through the cosmos. The game can be enjoyed on PlayStation 5, PC, and the Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Since the launch of “Star Wars Outlaws”, what do critics have to say about this game? Generally, the feedback has been quite positive with some minor issues pointed out along the way.

According to IGN’s Tristan Ogilvie, the story of Outlaws offers a consistently engaging journey that explores both familiar and novel locales, with its portrayal of the underworld feeling uniquely fresh. The narrative reaches a thrilling climax, as Kay transforms from a selfish rogue to a sympathetic ally, a transformation Ogilvie highlights. However, despite these strong points, the game was rated 7 out of 10 due to its straightforward stealth mechanics, repetitive combat sequences, and a handful of launch bugs.

According to Christopher Cruz from Rolling Stone, “Outlaws” is one of the finest Star Wars video games ever created. He believes that the future of the franchise could significantly lean towards video games due to their potential. Cruz highly appreciated the game’s intricate gameplay mechanics, mentioning that it doesn’t allow for simple solutions. However, this can be challenging for some players. A specific example he gave was about a mission where he had to plant evidence on the Pykes, who were his allies initially. When he was caught and came under heavy fire, he attempted to revert his actions by loading an earlier save file. Unfortunately, even with a recent save, he was forced to start the mission all over again, losing more than an hour’s progress. The game doesn’t offer any easy workarounds without the consequence of losing time. The creators aim for authentic roleplaying experience, and you have to face the consequences that come with it.

In a less enthusiastic review, Jordan Minor from PC Mag didn’t find the same charm in the game as others. Although he appreciated some similar aspects, Minor felt disconnected from the characters other than ND-5, describing him as a no-nonsense droid bodyguard with a fashionable coat. He found the rest of the characters lacked depth and felt more like generic extras. Additionally, Minor criticized the game for its repetitive gameplay, particularly the open-world aspect that seemed reminiscent of Ubisoft’s well-known formula.

If you lean towards a relaxed gaming style or have a less intense interest in Star Wars, I recommend taking a look at Alex Damon’s review on Star Wars Explained. Since he isn’t particularly fond of open-world games overall, his perspective is that of someone new to this type of gameplay. He tends to concentrate more on the storyline, background information, and character development rather than intricate game mechanics.
