As I delve into the captivating narrative of Maria Callas’ life, I find myself utterly fascinated by this extraordinary woman who defied conventions and left an indelible mark on the world of opera. Born to Greek heritage but trained across continents, she transcended boundaries not just with her voice, but also with her enigmatic beauty that illuminated her many tumultuous romances.

On Thursday at the 81st Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy, Angelina Jolie had a heartfelt interaction with a supporter during the promotion of her forthcoming biopic titled Maria.

49-year-old actress from Girl, Interrupted, kneeled in a beautiful champagne dress during an encounter with a fan battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), confined to bed.

As she prepared to step into Sala Grande for the debut of her movie, the actress paused to chat with one of her well-wishers, gently touching his shoulder in a kind gesture.

A progressive disorder called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) impacts the motor neurons located in both the brain and spinal cord. These neurons are responsible for managing our ability to move, talk, eat, and breathe.

On the second day of this year’s festival, Jolie captivated everyone in a beautiful, long evening dress featuring an off-the-shoulder design, as she gracefully greeted the photographers.

Despite being amidst an extended divorce process with Brad Pitt, the actress graced the red carpet for the premiere of the movie, which was to be screened for the first time at this year’s event, where it was in competition.

The beautiful silk-stone dress, custom-made for the actress by designer Tamara Ralph and her fashion house, showcased flowing accents and a brief train. It was adorned with a stylish, plush fake-fur shawl and a golden blooming brooch as its final touch.

Instead of letting her shiny golden hair cascade down her back, she accentuated her facial features using a timeless smoky eye look and bold, striking red lips.

The most recent movie featuring that star, entitled “Maria,” delves into the life story of the renowned opera singer Maria Callas through a dramatic portrayal of her biography.

It is directed by Pablo Larraín and produced by Fremantle.

Angelina Jolie takes center stage in the leading character, while Valeria Golino portrays her sister Yakinthi, and Haluk Bilginer assumes the role of Aristotle Onassis.

As a dedicated lifestyle guide, I am deeply committed to honoring Maria’s life and preserving her legacy. I promise to pour all my energy and resources into overcoming the challenges that lie ahead.

The Tomb Raider star also mentioned the film’s director, Pablo, whom she said she ‘long admired.’

The mother of six expressed: ‘Having the opportunity to share even more about Maria’s tale alongside Steven Knight’s writing, feels like a dream come true.’

Until she agreed to portray the renowned opera singer, Angelina hadn’t ever performed singing onstage or in public before.

At a recent press conference, the Oscar-winning individual shared that everyone present could tell she was extremely anxious, saying something along those lines.

As a devoted follower, I immersed myself in nearly seven months of rigorous training because when it comes to working with Pablo, there’s no room for halfway measures. With his unique encouragement, he insists – in the most delightful manner possible – that one not only performs the work but truly learns and grows through it.

Angelina sought the services of vocal coach Eric Vetro, who has worked with stars like Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, John Legend, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Rosalía, and Charlie Puth.

In her initial performance, Jolie recalled feeling extremely anxious. Her sons were present, assisting in securing the door to ensure privacy, which only added to her nervousness. She was visibly trembling and fearful.

Pablo placed me humbly in a modest space initially, but ultimately brought me to the grandeur of the Paris Opera House, La Scala. In doing so, he allowed me ample opportunity to flourish and develop.

Previously known as the rebellious starlet who grew up with The Clash as her soundtrack, she expressed that her greatest concern would be letting down Maria’s passionate fanbase. She explained, “I developed genuine affection for her, so I didn’t want to do anything that might not honor this woman.”

In the movie, I found myself transfixed by the scenes that seemed to transport Angelina back to Callas’ (born Kalogeropoulos) mesmerizing 1958 performance at a grand Paris gala – a performance that was beamed across Europe via Eurovision, leaving me spellbound as I watched it unfold on screen.

Born in New York but of Greek descent, this formidable singer possessed a robust soprano voice that divided into three unique tones and spanned nearly three octaves. She gave her last performance in 1965 after grappling with vocal issues attributed to various factors such as dermatomyositis, early menopause, and a dramatic weight loss of approximately 80 pounds back in 1954.

Maria, who had a romantic relationship with Aristotle Onassis during his marriage to former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, spent her final 11 years residing in Paris following her decision to relinquish her U.S. citizenship. She passed away at the age of 53 from a heart attack in 1977.

In the movie, Angelina has the privilege of donning several authentic garments once worn by Callas, including vintage furs sourced from Massimo Cantini Parrini’s personal collection.

Back in 1998, I was captivated as I stepped into the shoes of the iconic, tragic supermodel Gia Carangi, portraying her in the gripping biopic, “Gia”. Fast forward to 2007, and I was once again enthralled by the role, this time bringing Mariana Pearl to life on the silver screen in the powerful film, “A Mighty Heart”.

The filmmaker famed for creating biographical films like “Jackie” featuring Natalie Portman as Jackie Kennedy and “Spencer” with Kristen Stewart portraying Princess Diana, expressed: ‘It’s been a cherished aspiration to merge my two deepest and most heartfelt interests, cinema and opera.’

Working with the exceptionally courageous and inquisitive artist, Angelina, presents an intriguing chance. It’s truly a precious experience.

Prior to the WGA (Writers Guild of America) strike in Hollywood, the screenplay for Maria was penned by Steven Knight. It subsequently received a temporary contractual agreement from SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists).

Callas was born in American of Greek heritage and then trained in Greece as well as Italy.

Apart from being renowned as one of the leading opera singlers of the 20th century due to her remarkable vocal prowess, she was equally famous for her captivating looks that drew attention to her numerous romantic relationships.

Callas was also known for her fierce rivalry with Italian opera singer Renata Tebaldi.

The movie will delve into her life narrative, concluding with her tragic demise in Paris, following years of vision troubles that nearly rendered her blind.

Acting in a movie centered around Callas was a deeply personal endeavor for Faye Dunaway, who was eager to invest her own funds into the production, yet the project failed to take flight.

Back in 2014, it was rumored that Meryl Streep was going to portray Callas in a production titled Master Class, with Mike Nichols as the director. However, unfortunately, this project never materialized.

On September 8, Angelina Jolie will receive the TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media at the Toronto International Film Festival. This award ceremony coincides with the world premiere of her fifth directorial project titled “Without Blood,” which features Salma Hayek.
