Netflix shares first-look trailer for The OC star’s new romance series
As a long-time fan of both Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming Netflix series “Nobody Wants This”. Having grown up watching “The OC” and “The Good Place”, it’s a delight to see these two talented actors collaborate again. The unique premise of an outspoken agnostic woman falling for an unconventional rabbi has me hooked, and the hilarious trailer only strengthens my anticipation.
Netflix recently revealed a sneak peek at their upcoming romantic series titled “Nobody Wants This“, featuring Adam Brody from the hit show “The OC“. The series will be available for viewing in just a month.
The comedy, crafted by Erin Foster, revolves around the unusual bond that forms between Joanne, a bold, non-believer, and Noah, an offbeat rabbi. In this production, Brody portrays Noah, while the popular actress from ‘The Good Place’, Kristen Bell, brings Joanne to life.
In addition to acting in the show, Bell is also a fellow executive producer with Steven Levitan. Together, they share the role of executive producers for the popular sitcom “Modern Family” that they co-created.
All 10 episodes of Nobody Wants This will land on the streaming service on Thursday, September 26.
The series synopsis suggests that from their very first encounter at a mutual friend’s gathering, it becomes apparent to both parties that there may be a special connection or developing feelings between them.
However, they may also face disagreements in their perspectives on life, various contemporary hindrances to affection, and at times, both supportive and destructive family members – such as her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons).
In the amusing trailer, Joanne is seen engaged in a podcast discussion with her sibling Morgan, during which she confesses that she might opt for healthier decisions in her romantic relationships.
Later on, she encounters Rabbi Noah at an extravagant soiree, and the two promptly establish a romantic connection. Yet, their bond is tested when both sets of families express apprehension about their decisions.
Morgan points out, “It’s hard to deny, the two of you make an unusual match. One is serious and caring,” he remarks, “but with his tattoos, muscular build, and a bit of a questionable past, that seems to be much more your preferred style.”
Noah’s mother, Yulia, who strongly disagrees with his relationship, covertly advises Joanne that “she will never be with my son.”
As they become more intertwined, they find themselves pondering if their bond is strong enough to conquer the challenges ahead. Noah wonders aloud, “Could there be a scenario where this relationship succeeds?”
Nobody Wants This also stars Grown-ish actor Emily Arlook, Hocus Pocus star Stephanie Faracy, Star Wars Resistance‘s Tovah Feldshuh and Pam & Tommy‘s Paul Ben-Victor.
