Google Play’s Indie Games Fund, a $2 million fund opens applications for studios in Latin America

As a seasoned indie game developer from Latin America with a burning passion for crafting unique gaming experiences, this news about the Google Play Indie Games Fund has me absolutely thrilled! With my team of less than 50 talented creators, we’ve been working tirelessly to bring our vision to life, and now, it seems like we might just get the push we need to take things to the next level.

Google Play has revealed that the Indie Games Fund, their $2 million initiative aimed at assisting independent game developers, is being reintroduced in Latin America. The application process commences on August 14th, 2024, and will continue until September 13th, 2024. However, applications submitted by August 30th, 2024, will be given priority.

Upto 10 studios from Latin America can get the benefits from Google Play’s Indie Games Fund

This fund is designed to offer financial assistance and practical support to 10 chosen independent game developers. Each studio will receive funding ranging from $150,000 to $200,000. This aid is intended to help them shape their concepts and expand their business. To be eligible for this fund, the studios must have previously released a game on any platform, such as mobile, PC, or console. The chosen studios will receive financial investment for growth without giving up any equity, allowing them to concentrate solely on their expansion.

Furthermore, let’s note some additional conditions as well. One essential aspect is dedicating a part of the funds towards porting the game for Android and listing it on Google Play Store, including offering it through Google Play Pass. Another condition is that the candidate must be a small independent game developer, meaning their team should not exceed 50 members.

Google Play welcomes applications from all genres of games, regardless of whether they’re premium or free-to-play. A variety of business models are encouraged to apply, but keep in mind that the games chosen must align with the services provided by Google Play Pass. This means that the games should provide full access to all content for subscribers of Google Play Pass.
