The legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is continuing, and it’s been another contentious week in their ongoing conflict.
Okay, so this week has been full of celebrity headlines! We’ve seen some private text messages between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively come to light during legal proceedings, and there’s been a lot of discussion about a comment Jameela Jamil made previously. Plus, Ryan Reynolds is getting some heat for emails he sent to Colleen Hoover – fans are calling them a little… awkward, to say the least! It just shows you, even celebrities aren’t immune to a bit of public scrutiny these days.
The disagreement started because of the movie ‘It Ends With Us’. Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have been involved in a public legal battle that has been getting more intense for over a year.
The situation started in December 2024 when actress Lively reported to California’s Civil Rights Department that actor Baldoni sexually harassed her while they were making a movie. Baldoni firmly denies these accusations.
Since then, both sides have launched competing lawsuits worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Daily Mail breaks down the latest developments in the case this week.
Blake Lively’s catty texts with Taylor Swift
Newly revealed text messages released on Monday offered the first clear look into Lively’s thoughts and feelings when the situation initially unfolded.
Text messages between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively became public during the legal battle surrounding the film, It Ends With Us.
The pair traded unflattering remarks about Justin, the director and Lively’s co-star in the movie.
Court documents show Lively referred to Baldoni as a ‘silly director’ for her film, and Swift offered her full support, stating, ‘I’ll do whatever it takes for you!’
After a meeting about changing the script, Lively called Swift the ‘absolute greatest friend ever’.
In separate messages, Taylor Swift offered Lively guidance on featuring one of her songs in the movie and implied that Baldoni hadn’t approached the situation very thoughtfully.
Shortly before a major New York Times article detailing Lively’s allegations was scheduled to be published in December 2024, Swift confided in a friend that she believed Baldoni suspected something was about to happen, joking that he was already playing the victim.
Court documents show Lively spoke negatively about Baldoni to several of her celebrity friends, like Matt and Lucy Damon. She reportedly even described him to Ben Affleck as a ‘chaotic clown’.
Okay, so I’ve been following this whole thing, and the proof is finally out there! Blake Lively just dropped a massive court filing in New York – seriously, it’s huge! – and it’s her response to everything Ryan Baldoni has been saying. It lays everything out, point by point, addressing all his claims. I’ve been glued to every detail, and it’s honestly wild to see it all in writing!
Blake Lively and Brandon Sklenar unload on Justin Baldoni
As a huge fan of ‘It Ends With Us,’ I was shocked to see the newly released text messages from Lily Lively and Brandon Sklenar. It seems like they were really critical of director Justin Baldoni, and the texts were actually submitted as evidence in court! It’s definitely a messy situation, and honestly, it’s heartbreaking to see this behind-the-scenes drama unfold.
Lively and Sklenar, who were a couple in the movie, began texting about their TV jobs. The conversation quickly turned to what it was like making the film together.
Lively claims Baldoni went into the editing room to watch her version of the film without permission, after she had finished editing it herself.
In a conversation obtained by the Daily Mail, Lively called Baldoni “crazy,” and Sklenar said he was clearly struggling and ruining his career prospects.
Lively quickly retorted, ‘You haven’t heard the half of it,’ and then continued to accuse Baldoni of wrongdoing.
In a recently revealed text message, she admitted she would have been okay with him continuing to receive all the praise and opportunities. She felt he was on track for a successful career, even if it meant he wasn’t truly deserving of the credit, and would likely be thriving in his next role.
He’ll still be productive, but everyone is starting to notice what’s going on. I’ve been trying to keep it quiet because I just want to concentrate on my work and avoid getting involved in the drama they create.
‘But they wreck [sic] havoc everywhere they go. And everyone sees it. Then they come to me.’
Lively remembers an incident on set where Baldoni reportedly started to speak to Sklenar, but then stopped himself. He apparently warned that whatever he was going to say would ‘probably get canceled,’ and added that ‘you can’t say anything on this set anymore’.
Sklenar says he has a faint memory of the conversation, but doesn’t remember if Baldoni ever clarified what he was trying to say.
Lively alleges that Baldoni often tried to involve other people in his problematic behavior, describing this as her own observation of how he acted.
Sklenar later expressed confusion over what he saw as Baldoni’s poor planning, especially considering Baldoni’s public image, which he’s built through speaking engagements, podcasts, and books.
Lively agreed with the observation, suggesting Baldoni seemed to be hiding a difficult past while maintaining a carefully crafted public persona.
Sklenar appears to agree, replying, ‘It does make perfect sense.’
The Daily Mail reached out to representatives for Baldoni, Lively, and Sklenar for a statement, but has not yet received one.
Jameela Jamil brands Blake Lively a ‘suicide bomber’
In court documents, Jameela Jamil called Lively both a ‘suicide bomber’ and a ‘villain’ in a series of harsh messages.
Court records, totaling 181 pages, include text message conversations from August 2024 between Jamil and Jennifer Abel, Baldoni’s publicist. These messages were exchanged shortly after accusations began to surface regarding Baldoni’s conduct on the set of ‘It Ends With Us’.
The messages revealed Jamil and Abel joking about the criticism Lively received for promoting the film. Fans had criticized her for seeming to downplay the movie’s serious theme of domestic violence, calling her promotion insensitive.
A review of Jamil and Abel’s conversation revealed they discussed a TikTok video featuring Blake.
Abel expressed his strong reaction to someone’s actions, stating he wanted to start using the phrases ‘nightmare cat’ and ‘demon cat’ to describe the situation. He found it unbelievable and felt the person was responsible for their own difficulties.
Jamil responded: ‘She’s a suicide bomber at this point.’
They continued talking, addressing claims about how Baldoni acted on set. At the time, the Daily Mail had reported sources describing him as ‘chauvinistic’ and almost abusive.
Jamil noted: ‘At least borderline abusive is out there so she can’t go in with predator.’
Later that day, Jamil saw that Lively had posted a link to a domestic violence hotline and some facts about abuse in the U.S.
When the movie ‘It Ends With Us’ came out, Lively faced criticism for how she promoted it. People felt her focus on the film’s romance and her own contributions downplayed the story’s serious and sensitive themes, and she seemed out of touch with the subject matter.
Jamil wrote: ‘Did you see Blake post that survivors link?; Dead.’
Abel replied: ‘Oh yes, it’s so sick.’
Jamil added: ‘So cold; Just some stats and a link.’
Abel then jokingly responded ‘I’m thinking about having Justin share it,’ along with a wink emoji.
Jamil replied: ‘Ahahaha no keep him away from her; keep him silence; Keep him in Sweden.’
“I really can’t stand her,” Abel said. Jamil agreed, adding, “I’ve never seen a villain act so strangely. She’s completely over the top!”
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Jamil, Abel and Lively for comment.
Ryan Reynolds’s ‘cringe’ email
Fans are playfully teasing Ryan Reynolds about a somewhat awkward email he sent to Colleen Hoover, the author of ‘It Ends With Us’.
The Daily Mail reports that Reynolds supposedly emailed Hoover the day after the film premiered on August 10, 2024, excitedly claiming it was a huge success, using strong language to express his enthusiasm.
He also appeared to make fun of Baldoni, previously calling him a ‘dumb-dumb’ in private messages. In one message, he wrote that hearing about Baldoni and his colleagues getting sick in New York was terrible, but jokingly suggested it might be their bodies getting rid of Baldoni’s influence.
He said he’d rather endure something awful, like being sick in a harsh prison, than pretend to be a feminist for show while simply repeating self-help slogans to himself.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for both Reynolds and Baldoni, but they haven’t received a response yet.
I understand being a creator isn’t simple, especially for someone as gifted as you. It must be challenging to deal with people who try to take advantage of your talent and success, and it takes a strong spirit to navigate those situations.
He excitedly exclaimed how amazing the film was, using strong language to express his surprise and delight. He specifically praised Colleen and noted that the movie was a huge success with audiences, who were clearly embracing it.
You and B created something amazing despite not having the ideal resources. That’s what makes both of you – and the entire post-production team – so essential and reliable.
The email continued, saying the sender was aware they all lived privileged lives and felt grateful for their good fortune. However, they also expressed genuine admiration for the recipient and B, and described witnessing a satisfying moment – seeing someone deserving discipline another person in public – as a unique experience they truly appreciated.
Okay, seriously, I’m still reeling! Scarlett’s ex just posted the sweetest thing about the author and his wife, and it completely melted my heart. He said he could write 85 more paragraphs about how amazing this all is! Apparently, everyone really pulled together – even Sony surprised him! But the best part? He’s just so incredibly proud and inspired by them both, and honestly, same! I’m obsessed with this whole situation and their partnership is just…everything!
Ryan Reynolds called Baldoni a ‘dumb-dumb’
Newly released text messages reveal actor Glen Powell, using the pseudonym ‘Reynolds’, referred to Justin Baldoni as ‘dumb-dumb’ in conversations with his agent, Warren Zavala. He also claimed Baldoni’s wife was the reason the movie ‘It Ends With Us’ performed well at the box office.
Reynolds expressed frustration that the actor-director and those working with him didn’t share the blame when early reports of problems on set started appearing.
Reynolds believes that Baldoni and others involved should directly address the rumors and speculation. He argues they need to proactively and emphatically counter the gossip immediately.
Reynolds discussed ways to protect his wife from negative press, worried she might be unfairly portrayed as a demanding or controlling person following reports of conflict on set.
Reynolds believes Baldoni and his colleagues need to defend Lively, and that they should take responsibility for their inappropriate behavior before it causes even more problems for them. He suggests they face the consequences of their actions now, rather than letting the situation escalate.
Oh my god, they totally ruined it. Seriously, it’s a disaster! And absolutely no way should Blake be stuck cleaning up this awful, predictable mess. It’s just…wrong. He deserves so much better than to deal with this cliché-ridden train wreck!
Reynolds expressed his strong disappointment, saying Blake deserved to be enjoying this victory, as she was the one who achieved it through incredible effort.
He added: ‘She made this a win for Sony and by proxy, Wayfarer.’
Okay, so Ryan Reynolds basically told everyone what a total superhero Blake Lively is. Apparently, she absolutely refused to let the movie be anything less than perfect. He said she was running on no sleep, seriously sacrificing time with her kids, practically living in the editing rooms! She was meticulously going through every single frame of footage, fighting tooth and nail to make sure every tiny detail was amazing. It’s insane how dedicated she is, honestly. She’s just… incredible.
Reynolds also stated that Baldoni had strained relationships with other people working on the film.
Reynolds explained that neither the actors nor the main crew – including Colleen – would be in the same room as this person. He added that everyone involved had, at some point in the last six months, stopped following him on social media.
Not one person has said Justin’s name out loud in any interview at any time.’
Reynolds suggested that Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath should have proactively released a public statement addressing the initial criticism, and he even wrote a sample letter for them to use.
The satirical letter stated that their actions during the IEWU shoot were unacceptable and failed to show the respect deserved by Colleen Hoover and Blake Lively.
And let’s not forget the dedicated cast and crew who worked hard despite a very difficult filming process.
Reynolds stated that Baldoni and his team should have publicly acknowledged they were trying to figure out how they allowed a work environment to develop that lacked boundaries, safeguards, respect, and basic decency.
We want to be genuinely responsible, not just appear to be doing good. IEWU’s success isn’t due to our help; in fact, it’s succeeding despite our involvement.
The recent updates in this case follow a year-long and ongoing legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni.
In December 2024, Lively sued Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment, unfair retaliation, and intentionally causing her emotional distress. Her claims included accusations of body shaming and efforts to harm her professional reputation.
The lawsuit also included Baldoni’s business partners and associates, such as his company Wayfarer Studios, its CEO, investors, and public relations team.
Baldoni initially sued The New York Times for $250 million, claiming a report damaged his reputation. He later increased that amount, filing a $400 million lawsuit in January 2025.
He sued Blake Lively, her husband, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane, but the case was dropped in June.
All parties have denied the allegations against them.
