Melbourne radio host takes a brutal swipe at rivals Kyle and Jackie O with a very X-rated post... after beating the duo in radio ratings

As a dedicated radio listener and follower of the Australian broadcasting scene, I must say that the recent radio survey results have been quite intriguing. Having grown up listening to various radio personalities, it’s fascinating to see the dynamics shift as new players enter the market.

Melbourne radio personality Sammy J playfully criticized Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson of KIIS FM, following their poor performance in the Melbourne market as per the latest survey results.

The radio duo placed fifth in this month’s survey, while Sammy J had a boost in the ratings for his ABC breakfast show.

The popular comedian could not resist boasting his victory with a post that mocked the Kyle and Jackie O Show’s love of lewd content.

In a recent Instagram post I shared on Monday, I proudly announced that all those months of inquiring from my ABC listeners about a particular matter have finally borne fruit!

It seems that the humorous quip aimed at his competitors is likely an allusion to a comment Sandilands made during the launch of his radio show on Melbourne airwaves back in April.

At the performance, Henderson, aged 49, identified herself as being free from Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and then Kyle started delving into her views regarding anal sexual intercourse.

The 52-year-old, meanwhile, introduced himself as an ‘ex F-boy, coke-sniffing a**hole.’

Simultaneously, Samuel Jonathan McMillan, commonly known as Sammy J, experienced a surge in listeners for his morning program on ABC Melbourne. In the latest ratings for August, he garnered an audience share of 8.2%, marking an increase from 7.3% in the previous survey.

The Kyle and Jackie O Show seems to face difficulties in making an impact on the Melbourne radio scene.

This week’s data shows a clear victory for Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips over the popular shock jock teams based in Sydney.

It was an especially sweet victory since the duo’s Melbourne breakfast show was axed last year to make way for Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s big expansion into the city from Sydney.

In the midst of fierce competition, it’s been announced that the Jase and Lauren Show, broadcast on competitor station Nova FM, is Melbourne’s top-listened-to morning radio show.

In simple terms, “The comedy talk show has been crowned as the top-ranked program based on the recently published 2024 fifth quarter radio ratings report by GFK.”

In the ratings, Jase and Lauren’s well-liked show saw an increase of 0.3 points and now holds a commanding 9.9% of the audience, significantly outperforming competitors The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

On their debut in Melbourne on April 29, Kyle and Jackie O had a 6.1 percent listenership share, making them the fifth most popular breakfast radio show in the city.

Despite being newcomers, Kyle and Jackie O managed to slightly boost Melbourne’s ratings, increasing from 5.9% to 6.1%.

In the realm of morning radio, I can hardly contain my excitement as I found myself enamored by the electrifying trio at Fox FM – Fifi, Fev, and Nick! With a whopping 9.6% audience share, they almost reigned supreme, only to be outshone by another powerhouse in the industry, Gold FM’s Christian O’Connell who snatched the third spot. What a thrilling race it was!

Even though The Kyle and Jackie O Show lost in the Melbourne ratings, it still contributed significantly to KIIS FM retaining its position as the most popular radio station in Melbourne.

Each week, the well-liked morning radio program drew approximately 750,000 listeners throughout Sydney, marking an increase of more than 50,000 listeners compared to the previous poll.

In other rating assessments, Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little achieved significant triumph by securing the top spot for the national drive-time program in Australia.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that “The Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy” have once again claimed the leading position in Australia, capturing an astounding 11.1% share. For the fourth consecutive time, they’ve managed to outshine their competitors in a truly remarkable accomplishment.

The duo expressed their thoughts on the outcomes as follows: “It’s fortunate indeed to possess a diligent, dedicated team and attentive audience who inspire us toward remarkable accomplishments.”

“We appreciate your support, Australia, as we claim the top spot for the fourth consecutive time! Every afternoon, it’s nothing but sheer joy, and we’re thrilled to engage with listeners nationwide in this shared enjoyment.”
