Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Ranked Play to arrive in Season 1

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Ranked Play to arrive in Season 1

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Call of Duty under my belt, I must admit that the news about Black Ops 6 Ranked Play arriving earlier than usual has me both excited and skeptical. On one hand, it’s refreshing to see a change in the traditional release schedule for competitive modes, which often seem like an afterthought. On the other hand, I’ve been around long enough to remember when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play arrived two months after launch, and my wallet can’t handle another round of DLC purchases.

Black Ops 6 multiplayer Ranked Play arrives earlier than usual.

The ongoing annual event for unveiling the new installment in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, by Activision and Treyarch, is brimming with excitement. They’ve been demonstrating the latest features, such as the omnimovement mechanic and multiplayer aspects, and have already shared quite a bit about it. But there was an unexpected detail about Black Ops 6 Ranked Play – it will be launched earlier than expected, as per the broadcast announcement. Here are the details we’ve gathered so far.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Ranked Play to arrive as “part of Season 1”

It’s no secret to fans of the Call of Duty series that the Ranked Play mode doesn’t usually debut on a game’s launch day. And it seems like this pattern persists with Black Ops 6. However, it’s important to note that Ranked Play for Modern Warfare 3 was added in late January, about two months after the game came out. Given this precedent, it’s reasonable to expect that Black Ops 6 will also launch its Ranked Play mode at a later date, according to the game’s roadmap.

In simpler terms, the official Call of Duty account shared on social media that competitive gamers should get ready because Multiplayer Ranked Play will be introduced later, starting from Season 1. Since the game is set to release globally on October 25, Season 1 might not start until December or January. So, it’s possible that you could see Multiplayer Ranked Play within three to four weeks after the game launch.

What will Ranked Play in BO6 entail?

There isn’t much information available yet about Black Ops 6’s Ranked Play mode, but we do have a rough idea of when it might be released. Similar to previous Call of Duty games, the maps, weapons, and game modes will likely follow the format used in the Call of Duty League. However, since the game isn’t scheduled to come out until October 25, it may take some time to fully understand the competitive environment before Ranked Play is ready for general use.

At a minimum, players should anticipate playing both modes – Hardpoint and Search & Destroy. As of now, further specifics about the game remain unclear.
