As a longtime fan of the Dragon Quest series, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming release of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince! Having grown up with the franchise, I remember Psaro from Dragon Quest IV as a formidable adversary and am intrigued to see his transformation into a protagonist. With over 500 monsters to encounter, recruit, and combine, this game promises an adventure that will keep me engaged for hours on end.
Square Enix has revealed that the mobile and PC version of “Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince,” a role-playing game set within the beloved “Dragon Quest” series, is scheduled to release on September 11, 2024. This action-packed RPG will be available for download on Android, iOS, and Steam devices.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince brings over 500 monsters to encounter
In the seventh installment of the Dragon Quest Monsters series, you assume the role of Psaro, a young man under a curse set by his father to protect rather than harm the monster beings. If you’re familiar with the franchise, you might recall that he was the antagonist from the Dragon Quest IV game.

To break this spell, Psaro needs to master the art of Monster Taming, gathering a band of benevolent monsters for grand conflicts. You’ll gather and coach an assortment of monsters, merging them to produce more powerful companions. As you journey through the enigmatic land of Nadiria, you’ll construct a distinctive team and embark on an exhilarating quest to be crowned the “Sovereign of All Monsters.”
In this game, you’ll traverse a shifting environment with seasons and weather that influence which monsters show up and uncover hidden paths. Additionally, the game offers an array of monsters for you to engage with. You can conquer and enlist more than 500 distinct monsters, then merge them to create formidable creatures!
The mobile version of Dragon Quest has had mixed success, with several games being discontinued over the past few years. Games like Dragon Quest Tact, Dragon Quest: Champions, Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light, Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai, and Dragon Quest Keshi Keshi have all been shut down. It’s clear that Square Enix is aiming to make the popular Dragon Quest Monsters series a major success for them.
On December 1st, 2023, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince was officially launched on Nintendo Switch. In just a few short weeks, you’ll be able to play it! Unfortunately, the store pages for mobile devices haven’t been activated yet, so stay tuned as we provide more information in the coming days.
