JLS star JB Gill addresses Strictly Come Dancing curse with his wife Chloe and insists he will not be ‘lipsing any girl’ in fun clip
As a die-hard fan of all things JLS and Strictly Come Dancing, I can confidently say that I am overjoyed to see JB Gill joining the 2024 lineup! In a light-hearted video this week, JB Gill jokingly assured his wife Chloe that he has no intention of developing romantic feelings for anyone else amid the Strictly Come Dancing rumors, playfully stating he won’t be “kissing” any other girls.
37-year-old actor from the JLS band, who married dancer Chloe in January 2014, was revealed to be joining the 2024 lineup earlier this month.
For a while now, it’s been widely recognized that certain competitors often experience a kind of “curse” when they start dating their fellow contestant, even though some are already involved in relationships beforehand.
JB playfully mocked the ongoing controversy surrounding the BBC show by incorporating a sound clip from Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay of Love Island, while in the company of his spouse.
In a reference to Skepta and Jme’s song “That’s Not Me,” the singer expressed: ‘I don’t act like a playboy, that’s not my character. I don’t sleep with just any girl, it’s not my style. I don’t even flirt with girls casually, that’s not who I am.’
He humorously titled his post: ‘When your spouse inquires about swearing, but it’s not your thing.’
In an exclusive interview with TopMob, JB shared that he and Chloe enjoy exceptional communication, and he emphasized that his time on the show won’t affect their bond.
He explained: ‘We communicate incredibly well and we’ve always said that’s one of the keys to a very successful and strong relationship, let alone marriage. For us, this is not gonna change that at all.
Fan speculation suggests that the infamous ‘Strictly Curse’ may be coming to an end this year, as organizers have decided to assign chaperones who will always be on hand during couples’ dance practice sessions.
JB expressed, “In all sincerity, I believe my wife is exceptional, particularly for anyone participating in this show, given her background. She truly understands the world we’re in.”
‘And although she wasn’t a ballroom dancer, we both understand what goes into it. We know that it’s not easy and it’s going to be difficult. She gets it, she’s been on tours herself.
She’s accustomed to working with others, which is common in our world. As a result, she’s genuinely thrilled about my situation.
Chloe is eager to share her insights, and I appreciate this greatly since she brings a perspective I lack due to my non-dancing background. I look forward to benefiting from her expertise and collaborating closely with my professional counterpart as a result.
He concluded: ‘She can’t wait for the journey to start just like me.’
Among those affected by what is often referred to as the ‘Strictly Curse’, Rachel Riley stands out. During her participation in the show in 2013, she ended her marriage with Jamie Gilbert and later married her professional partner, Pasha Kovalev.
Adam Peaty also split from his partner Eiri Munro after competing on Strictly in 2021.
In 2018, Strictly Come Dancing’s Seann Walsh parted ways with his girlfriend Rebecca Humphries, following pictures of him kissing his dance partner Katya Jones surfacing. At that point, Katya was still married to fellow dancer Neil. The couple eventually separated the year after.
Apart from her previous relationship with Sam Tucknott, Stacey Dooley is currently in a romance with her dancing partner, Kevin Clifton. Their romantic involvement was revealed not long after she triumphed on “Strictly Come Dancing.”
