Jenna Ortega calls debunked Johnny Depp dating rumors 'so insane to me': 'I don't know that person'

As a dedicated follower of Hollywood gossip and a lover of all things cinema, I find myself captivated by the whirlwind of rumors surrounding young actress Jenna Ortega. Her recent interview with BuzzFeed Celeb has me reminiscing about the time she was falsely linked to none other than the enigmatic Johnny Depp.

Jenna Ortega is reflecting on the time she was erroneously linked to Johnny Depp.

During an online chat with BuzzFeed Celebrity, the young actress, aged 21, was questioned about the wildest story circulating about her personal life. She pointed out the speculation that she had a deep romantic connection with Depp, who is 61 years old.

Last year, there were rumors that the two individuals might have been romantically involved, and it was also suggested that they could have collaborated on a potential Beetlejuice sequel. However, they later denied these speculations.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I find myself compelled to clarify a misconception. Contrary to rumors, I was not romantically involved with Johnny Depp. The idea of our privacy being invaded in such a manner is simply preposterous. I’ve never addressed this topic before, and I certainly haven’t made any statements suggesting otherwise.

Ortega chuckled at the situation and, interestingly enough, word reached her that her “Death of a Unicorn” co-star, Richard E. Grant, had also heard about it.

She shared that she found something quite amusing. While on set with Richard E. Grant, he approached her and mentioned, “Ah, you and Johnny,” which made her laugh since she wasn’t familiar with the individual, according to her.

Last year, whispers of a potential romance began circulating in the world of celebrity gossip, with DeuxMoi claiming to have spotted these two talented actors together. To add fuel to the fire, rumors swirled that they might also be collaborating on the highly-anticipated Beetlejuice sequel. As a lifestyle aficionado who’s always tuned into the latest scoop, I can’t help but find these intriguing developments captivating!

Ortega ultimately set the record straight on her Instagram Stories, NME reported.

In a post on her account, it was reported that Ortega stated something to the effect of: ‘This is so absurd I can hardly find it amusing,’ implying that she hasn’t known or collaborated with Johnny Depp in any professional capacity. She requested that people stop propagating falsehoods and leave them in peace.

Depp’s representative also denied the rumorĀ and the claim that he was in the new Beetlejuice film.

According to a statement given to NME last year, his representative clarified that Mr. Depp has no personal or professional connection with Ms. Ortega. He has never interacted with her or conversed with her. There is no project he is associated with her, nor does he plan to be. He finds the unfounded and malicious gossip about him, which aims to tarnish his reputation and career, utterly disturbing.

In the very same BuzzFeed interview, Ortega also shared a famous role that she didn’t end up playing.

It turned out that Ortega had tried out for the part of Chani, which is surprising to many fans, in the Dune films directed by Denis Villeneuve.

The actress shared that around age 15, it’s likely I tried out for the role in Dune, although she mentioned the auditioning procedure was kept rather confidential.

“She mentioned that she was greatly fond of that movie series, and I was particularly thrilled about the upcoming interview since Denis is among her most admired directors.”

In response to being asked about the role she thought she had auditioned for, Ortega replied, “I believe it was Chani, possibly Zendaya’s character, but they didn’t explicitly state that. Everything regarding the roles was kept under wraps.”

Back in January 2017, Villeneuve agreed to direct not just one but two Dune movies. However, he needed to complete Blade Runner 2049 prior to starting work on adapting Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel into these films.

2018 saw the announcement that the adaptation of the story would be split across two movies. It was during this same year that Timothee Chalamet agreed to take on the role of the main character, Paul Atreides.

If Ortega had auditioned for the Chani role prior to September 2018, she would have been 15 years old at the time of the audition.

Back in January 2019, it was confirmed that Zendaya will portray Chani. Despite having minimal screen time in the 2021 release of Dune, her character is significant and will play a crucial role in the 2024 sequel, Dune: Part Two.
