As an ardent fan of architecture and contemporary design, I can’t help but feel a pang of both sadness and anticipation upon hearing the news about Kanye West’s Malibu mansion. The home, designed by the legendary Tadao Ando, was once a testament to the fusion of artistry and innovation, and its transformation into a potential bomb shelter under Kanye’s tenure was a sight that left many of us architecture enthusiasts scratching our heads in disbelief.
The Malibu mansion, once known for Kanye West’s controversial renovation aimed at transforming it into a bomb shelter, has been sold for around $21 million. The identity of the new owner is now disclosed.
According to reports from TMZ, Belwood Investments recently acquired a property that was originally put up for sale by a rapper at a price of $53 million.
According to a recent announcement from the press, the company’s CEO Bo Belmont disclosed their intention to spend $5 million on renovations. The goal is to rejuvenate the house and bring it back to its original design by Tadao Ando, who initially planned the structure before Kanye West undertook demolition.
Last month, in July, I came across news about a house being bought, yet at that time, neither the identity of the owner nor the purchase price had been disclosed.

In the press release through TMZ, Bo expressed that this real estate investment isn’t merely exceptional; rather, it presents a chance to revitalize and protect an architectural masterpiece by Tadao Ando. By doing so, it will continue to shine as a Malibu gem.
In the year 2021, Kanye West bought a house that was famously designed by an influential architect, at a cost of approximately $57.3 million. However, disturbing images surfaced in June revealing that the oceanfront property had been entirely stripped bare, with no windows remaining.
He had stripped it of plumbing and electricity, with all the windows and doors removed.
In April, the rapper lowered the asking price of his house from $53 million to $39 million, a decrease of $14 million.
Kanye enlisted the help of real estate agent Jason Oppenheim.

Per the outlet, the deal will close on September 3.
The home was built in 2013.
