Why we don’t need another season of Ted Lasso (hear me out!)

As a devoted fan who has followed Ted Lasso since its inception, I must confess that the news of a fourth season has left me in a bit of a conundrum. On one hand, I can’t help but jump for joy at the prospect of more laughs, heartwarming moments, and insightful conversations from our beloved coach and his AFC Richmond family. On the other, I fear that we might be treading on hallowed ground, risking the perfection that was Ted Lasso season 3’s finale.

News has just surfaced that a fourth installment of “Ted Lasso” is being planned on Apple TV+. As per the latest updates, Warner Bros. Television seems to have already identified potential cast members for season 4, such as Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, and, according to reports, Jason Sudeikis will be part of it too. (Deadline has mentioned this.)

Initially, when the announcement was made, enthusiasts swiftly took to social platforms to share their enthusiasm. However, one might wonder if another season of Ted Lasso is truly desired.

Hear me out! Ted Lasso is and always will be one of my favorite series. The Apple TV+ comedy-drama was a warm hug to all who watched, and such a beautiful escape from the world. It wasn’t all pretty colors and lighthearted comedy, though! Ted Lasso never shied away from hard-hitting topics such as mental health and race issues. But that’s also what fans loved about it so much, the series kept it real and it was often a raw gut-punch of emotions.

In the third season of Ted Lasso, all loose ends were neatly tied up, concluding the stories of our beloved characters. Although we may have had questions, like whether Juno Temple’s character Keeley Jones and Goldstein’s Roy would end up together, it seems they might not have been destined for each other. They represented beautiful chapters in their lives, but their relationship did not last.

While I’m eager to imagine more stories set in the world of Ted Lasso, I don’t want it to spoil what I consider an exceptional series with a satisfying ending. The prospect of season 4 is tantalizing, but there’s a risk it might not live up to our expectations, much like Toy Story 4. It wasn’t a terrible film, but it felt unnecessary. Honestly, I would have preferred if Woody, Buzz, and their friends had continued their adventures with Bonnie, rather than being left in the hands of Andy’s old toys. But let’s save that discussion for another time!

Are you wondering if the fourth season of Ted Lasso will air? If all goes well, it might be ready by Spring 2026! We’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope for an earlier release. In case there are any updates on cast members or other details, we’ll make sure to update this post right away.
