Nicola Coughlan cosies up to actor Jake Dunn as they attend All Points East festival
As a long-time fan of Bridgerton, I must say that seeing Luke and Nicola’s heartwarming journey as Colin and Penelope has truly been a rollercoaster ride. Having followed their characters since the first season, it was a delight to witness their romance unfold in the third season, branded as the raciest yet.
At Victoria Park in London over the weekend, actress Nicola Coughlan was spotted snuggling with actor Jake Dunn during their visit to the All Points East festival.
37-year-old actress, famed for portraying Penelope Featherington in the popular Netflix series Bridgerton, affectionately put an arm around Jake, a 24-year-old actor from Renegade Nell.
Casually blending among others, Nicola hid her face under a dark cap, observing as Mitski took center stage.
In the pictures taken by The Sun, she donned a white minidress and completed her festive attire with a pair of studded ankle boots.
Jake chose a casual look with an unbuttoned shirt, worn over a white tank top, paired with black linen pants and New Balance sneakers.
He most recently starred as Thomas Blancheford in Disney+ series Renegade Nell and has also featured in The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself.
At the premiere of Renegade Nell in March, Nicola was spotted with Jake and his fellow actress, Alice Kremelberg. They all took a selfie together.
The Irish actress had stepped out to the event to support her Derry Girls co-star Louisa Harland, who plays the titular character.

Fans of the Bridgerton series were sent into an excited uproar in June when real-life couple Nicola and Luke Newton reminisced about their past by taking a walk down memory lane in Galway.
A video shared on Netflix’s social platforms showed them visiting Ireland, where one of them is originally from, taking in the scenery. Later, they reminisced about their experiences during the show.
In the video, we see Nicola, portraying Penelope Featherington, the scribe for Lady Whistledown, and Luke, as Colin Bridgerton, reflecting on their three-year run in the series.
Nicola fought back tears as she bid farewell to her season as the focal character of the series, with another Bridgerton romance set to take centre stage in season four.
The video started by Nicola presenting Luke with the breathtaking view of Galway, to which he responded: “The locals have made me feel very welcome. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to anticipate.”
The duo entered a movie theater to re-live some episodes from their series, specifically focusing on the initial season which showcased the early development of Penelope and Colin’s camaraderie.
Glancing at her characters’ flamboyant fashion choices, Nicola remarked, “We seem more like little ones. I adored that dress; it was so endearingly charming.”
Following delightful scenes such as the initial pitch during the show, and the climactic instances from the end of season one, which almost saw Penelope revealing her affection for Colin.
In the third season of Bridgerton, often referred to as its most romantic yet, Colin and Penelope officially confirmed their relationship, while Luke and Nicola reminisced about their characters’ very first kiss.
When questioned about the key takeaway from their relationship, Luke explained: ‘It carries a lesson about self-discovery, yet it also shows that you don’t need to navigate life alone; there’s always someone to assist you.’
Nicola mentioned, “It will be transformative, its effects will last a lifetime, even as we grow older.”
Afterward, Luke and Nicola moved on to a local tavern for a shared drink of Guinness. It was at this point that the beloved Derry Girls actress disclosed she snagged her Penelope part following a single tryout.
She added: ‘Every screening we’ve gone across the world it’s a real pinch me moment.’
Overwhelmed by emotion, she confided in Luke, “You’re simply remarkable at this, and I couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone but you… I’m absolutely exhausted.”
The pair traveled around the world to showcase Bridgerton’s third season, with their love story being the main focus. (Colin and Penelope’s romance was the central part of it.)
Fans swiftly expressed their joy over the sudden reunion, one of them confessing that it made them emotional, even causing them to shed tears.
Posts included: ‘Ya’ll just keep stabbing me in the heart. Ughh the waterworks came on with the first dance scene. And that first kiss song… it evokes all the emotions and it will always trigger me. I know they miss each other after going through all this – like who wouldn’t miss Nic or Luke?’
