9z dgt: “My dream is to win a big trophy with 9z and help them become a stable top-10 team.”

As a gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that 9z’s dgt is a true gem in the world of Counter-Strike. His dedication to his team and his passion for the game are evident in every match he plays. Despite numerous offers to join bigger teams, he has chosen to stay with 9z, demonstrating a level of loyalty that is rare in this competitive field.

9z already showed some exciting Counter-Strike this year.

In a scenario where a top-tier CS2 team was being assembled from South America, it’s almost guaranteed that Franco “dgt” Garcia from 9z would make the roster.

Without a doubt, the rifler is considered one of the greatest Counter-Strike players from Uruguay, demonstrating his skill over an extended period of five years and three months with team 9z (as of August 2024). His talent has proven him worthy to compete against top-tier global players.

Over the past five years, numerous opportunities for dgt to depart from 9z have arisen, yet he’s consistently chosen to remain, as some of his valuable teammates moved on to play for other teams. With G2 recently acquiring Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa from Guatemala, it might encourage more European teams to scout and sign skilled players from the Americas who are proficient in English.

In response to an enticing proposition from a team as prominent as G2, dgt expressed interest, but he’s eagerly looking forward to remaining with 9z and securing a major victory for Latin America before considering such an offer. He shared this sentiment during the BetBoom Dacha CS2 2024 event in Belgrade, Serbia with Xpsp.

In a recent statement, dgt mentioned he has pondered the idea of departing from 9z in order to test his abilities on another squad and determine if he can excel there as well. However, he admitted that he’s quite content with his teammates and the organization. He added that, while a team like G2 might present an opportunity, he’s unsure if he’s ready for such a level given his ongoing efforts to improve his English. Ultimately, dgt expressed his ambition of winning a major trophy with 9z and helping them establish themselves as a consistent top-10 team.

dgt on why he hasn’t 9z over the years

9z dgt wants to leave a mark and pave the way for future Latin American players

Similar to Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, a two-time Major champion, who was instrumental in establishing Brazilian Counter-Strike during the shift from CS 1.6 to CS:GO, dgt aspires to make a significant impact in the same region.

Presently, it can be challenging for professional South American players since they often find themselves relocating to Europe to enhance their skills, which means leaving their loved ones behind at home. Unfortunately, the facilities and funding in South America are currently insufficient to sustain the competitive scene year-round.

Yet, dgt believes that by establishing a trail, perhaps upcoming Latin American players may find their path a little less challenging.

In their own words, dgt expressed, “Growing up somewhere where life seems tougher than other areas makes you yearn to make a difference and clear a path for future generations. Hopefully, it will be slightly less challenging for them.” Dgt also shared his affection for our region, emphasizing the fierce spirit that unites Argentinians, Brazilians, Uruguayans, and Chileans.

9z aim to make amends at the BetBoom Dacha event following their premature exit at IEM Cologne last week. This South American team definitely possess the skills required to improve, having demonstrated strong CS:GO gameplay at IEM Dallas back in May.

During that event, they managed to beat MOUZ, Team Liquid, and Vitality but were bested by G2 (who ultimately won the tournament) in the semifinals. On August 24th, team 9z will make their BetBoom Dacha debut against Falcons, aiming to secure one of the two playoff spots alongside Falcons, paiN, and BetBoom.
