C9 HeavyGod: “We gave many entries away”

As a longtime CS:GO fan, I’ve witnessed my fair share of upsets and triumphs. This Fall Showdown has been no exception, with Cloud9’s early elimination being a shocker. I’ve always admired Cloud9 for their consistent performances and the talent they’ve nurtured over the years, from Semphis to shroud. But today, it seems like they were missing that spark, that energy that usually sets them apart.

HeavyGod said the team lacked energy in todays’s match.

The relentless elimination process in Fall Showdown persists, with another highly-anticipated competitor being knocked out. Cloud9 suffered a challenging 2-0 defeat at the hands of paiN Gaming, effectively ending their chances of qualifying for Copenhagen. Can Cloud9 adjust their strategy and capitalize on the skills of Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko and Kaisar “ICY” Faiznurov to bounce back?

“Our map pool is stronger,” says Cloud9 HeavyGod despite Nuke loss

Prior to the match, James Banks talked about Cloud9’s progression with team captain Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov. BoombI4 affirmed their goal of solidifying themselves as a top-tier team, but emphasized the need for gradual growth with their youthful squad. Additionally, he commended paiN’s exceptional LAN performance and dynamic gameplay.

Absolutely, we aspire to rank as a top-tier team, but given our youthful roster and the addition of three fresh faces, it’s crucial to focus on achievable objectives initially. Our primary concern should be fostering team cohesion first, which will allow us to work towards more complex goals later on.

Prior to this competition, Cloud9 had made it into the EU RMR by only dropping one map to 9Pandas. However, the effort put into qualifying may have drained their energy, as HeavyGod observed that they seemed lackluster in today’s match. Despite a 13-8 defeat, he remains confident that Nuke is a strong map for his team.

We were fully geared up for our match on Nuke, but unfortunately, we didn’t deliver our best performance today. We simply lacked the vitality we had previously. However, our selection of maps is more advantageous to us.

C9 HeavyGod: “We gave many entries away”

As a gamer, I found myself struggling once again against paiN, with their masterful control over each and every gun round leaving me little room for maneuver. Although my teammate Kaisar “ICY” Faiznurov played superbly, our side couldn’t convert his impressive performance into victories on the battlefield.

As a gamer, I feel like we let too many opportunities slip through our fingers today. You know, just like how a game can be tough when you’re not at your best, it seemed we were running on empty and not quite in the zone.

HeavyGod on a disastrous Mirage half

Now, the team shifts focus towards preparing for the Shanghai Major, all the while competing in online qualifiers for different tournaments. For Cloud9, intense training camps (or boot camps) are what’s ahead as they ready themselves for the Ranking Medal Rounds (RMR) competition.

Each setback is tough, but it’s crucial to learn from them and move forward to the next match. We must improve our preparation for the future and correct our errors. Keep your faith. A single loss can occur as no team is flawless; we just need to keep pushing harder. After this, we have another training session because a new team requires extra effort. Everyone is putting in great work. We’ll demonstrate our best performance and rectify our mistakes.

HeavyGod on paiN loss

Map Veto

  1. paiN removed Ancient
  2. Cloud9 removed Vertigo
  3. paiN picked Nuke
  4. Cloud9 picked Mirage
  5. paiN removed Inferno
  6. Cloud9 removed Anubis
  7. Dust2 was left over

Allowing Nuke into the pool might have been strategically planned by Cloud9, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out in this match. For example, paiN was superior in their gun rounds and only HeavyGod could respond for Cloud9. Despite HeavyGod securing some crucial rounds, the team seemed to lack the power necessary to overpower paiN.

In a turn of events, the mirage didn’t improve much. Cloud9 managed to secure three rounds with their initial pistol round advantage. However, the following rounds saw paiN dominating, winning eight out of nine. BoombI4’s exceptional performance nearly sparked a comeback, but paiN held their ground and eventually won the series 2-0.

Cloud9: Favorites out early from BLAST Premier Fall Showdown

In the Fall Showdown, Cloud9 was considered a strong contender due to their impressive offensive capabilities. However, unexpectedly, they seemed to lack firepower during their match against paiN. As a result, Cloud9 returns to training camp to analyze their errors, while paiN advances in the tournament. This leaves FaZe with an open route towards Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s home event if they can overcome the Brazilian team.
